He’s the only player we have that is elite and could in any way be argued as world class given his England exploits.
He might not be the absolute best in the world, or even top 10, but I’d wager he’s probably in the top 25 or so if you look at his last couple of years with us and whole England career.
Does that not count as elite?

You know that other goalkeeper cliche "keepers get better with age"? Thats because their position becomes second nature, being in the right position and having the correct body shape is a huge part of being a good keeper but it comes with years and years of practice.
Apologies for its basic nature, its the best i could do quickly. But look at the diagram below.
If the goalkeeper near the red lines concedes at his near post (to his right) then its an error because he's left too much room between himself and that post. If the goalkeeper near the blue lines concedes at his near post (to his left) then its not an error (assuming its a decent shot) because his positioning is correct.

You think elite means absolute best? By definition that would mean there’s only ever one elite player for each position and elite is normally a group

No player in our squad is anywhere near an elite player, I don’t know why people feel the need to pretend they are. It’s like we always have to have one elite player at any given time no matter how bad we are, but we simply don’t. And no, being an England international does not make you an elite player, Harry Maguire starts every game for England.
But I said I think he is one of the best, you just trimmed my quote. I said think he’s probably in the top 25 keepers in world football which I would class as him being an elite goalkeeper. A select group as per your google definition.
If you disagree, that’s fine.
I’m not pretending, I think he is. I don’t think we’ve had a player as strong as him in his position since Rooney as a kid.
I also didn’t say being an England international made him elite, I said being the best player in an international final and englands most consistent performer as well as our multiple POTS… not Harry Maguire.
I get that people can disagree but I also think people will agree with me too that Pickford is that good.

Top 25 really isn’t elite, not for goalkeepers of which there’s only ever one on the pitch. Top 10 goalkeepers can be considered the elite, Pickford is not in the top 10 in my opinion.
This thread reminds sometimes of the old Lukaku ones, "hes crap all he does is score goals, lazy beggar".
