2022/23 Jordan Pickford

Don't know for sure, but could that be a clause that has been written into his shiny new contract ? You know the" if a Champions League team comes in for me clause". I sincerely hope not, but would anyone be surprised.
Wouldn’t be surprised if there was a clause but would like to think we’d pitch it a bit higher, like at least 40. 30 isn’t even a profit and tbh I think we’d get 30 even if he hadn’t signed the contract.

Like we did tings last year when we sold Richy? We need to keep Pickford. And I'd like to see how Branthwaite gets on.

Also 30 mil for England's number 1? Absolutely not.

We've zero money and have to sell to buy. We're very short of options to sell for any real money

We don’t actually know that

We were supposed to have no money when we bought Onana, Maupay, McNeil, Tarkowski (big wage/signing fee), Coady loan

We were supposed to have needed to sell Richy to balance the books and then we bought all those players without another outgoing unless I misremember

I bet we are net positive spend by at least £30m this summer

Richie was sold far too cheaply.

The estimates quoted by Kenada Blue is beyond the pail.

You don't know that, none of us know that.

Every year we get all the armchair experts out telling us we have no money, that it's sell to buy them look at last summer, we went out and bought Onana

I know January was beyond poor, but let's wait and see what happens before we go back into the cycle of saying we have no money etc.

Richy was sold to fund players but was sold in time to balance the 2021/2022 books so those deals would be put towards 2022/2023 sheet. Gordon fee was also gobbled up.

And Tarko wouldn't be on "big wages" he'll have a bump up higher than Burnley's.

As for the transfer budget...I'd go along with what The Esk has said where as due to years of losses and awful transfer business we'll have to do exactly what we did last season, this.

So loans and frees are still doable. But anything significant involves sales.

We may look like we're in the black financially...but our books for 2022/2023 need to show a healthy profit. The next season we may have wiggle room to keep the PL off our back.

Why are you questioning my statement? For £30m we would be worse off if we sold Pickford 100%

You then say in your next post that £50m would be good business, which I don’t disagree with if we spend it well which would be a slightly worse goalkeeper but reinforce other areas we desperately need

I’d still rather keep him and sell almost any other player before him

It makes no sense to me how posters can state as fact that wed be in a worse place if Pickford was sold.

There is an enire world of players. This one is 29 and has 5 years at the top at best.

Baines, Coleman, Pickford...2 players where they were kept too long instead of selling and replacing...and a 3rd about to provide another lesson in how not to manage a business.

But like I said before...it's the assumption that Pickford may have a release clause.

As for Branthwaite. £20mill is not below his value.

£20mil 'may' be his value but his potential value is far higher.

Pickford simply has to be moved pm and hopefully for £50mil

We all used to go along with what The Esk said until it made us all look a bunch of idiots over the Mata/Witsel window

We might not have any money but nobody knows for sure and I certainly wouldn’t talk with any positivity on what we may or may not be able to do
