30 has to be a wind up. do they still make money on premium rate phone calls?

i’d hate to see him go, even if he went for 60m we could improve the squad but we’ll be weaker at GK and he’s kept us up past two seasons so that would really worry me

but also i wouldnt begrudge him wanting to leave to play for Man U in the Champions League

£60m + Henderson and we can talk
knowing what we know about our ability to bring the right players to the club, I simple wouldn’t sell - he’s worth good numbers of points a season to us, I would have no confidence they could strengthen the team generally if Pickford left, I would rather sell Onana based on what I have seen but only if valued at, at least £50m due to his potential

That £30m thing is probably a plant by another club. They say hey, my man, post this for us will ya?
Then 1 of several things happen.
It's ignored
The club say not for sale.
Or you see another similar tweet or whatever saying, sources say everton will listen to offers of £70m

We see it all the time. For us, look what happened with Gordon and Richarlison.
We are seeing it with Kane and Rice now.

It seems to be the new negotiating tactics without actually negotiating. Random figure is leaked, club then leaks how much they are looking for, other clubs leak how much they are willing to pay. Etc etc
I will only worry if we start seeing, Everton source say not a penny below £70m.
Then you know we are open to selling.

I mean for what its worth, how much would we get Henderson for? £30m, if he was for sale right now? On that basis, it would have to be a big figure or say £30-40m plus Henderson.

29 is not old
29 is definitely not old for a goalkeeper

Pickford is a top keeper and anyone we signed for £30m or less would be worse in the short term

They might be a young keeper who becomes as good or maybe even better long term but I don’t think we can afford to weaken ourselves next season in any position after staying up in the last half hour of the season!

De Gea is 32. Both players are reliant on their reflexes.

We wouldnt 'weaken', there would need to be an attacker signed as well as a keeper.

Where does Henderson appear from? Ive never seen the stardust.

This narrative he kept us up is mad, like me saying Tarkowski kept us up with all the headers and blocks he did or Coady did because he cleared one of the line v Bournemouth.

He’s a goal Keeper it’s his jobs to make saves, he’s good at it, but he’s not one of the worlds best imo. I still never feel comfortable with him on a high ball coming into his box and he tries to punch everything and never catches shots even comfortable ones, he parries them in front of him and dives on them.

We’d be mad not to sell for 60mil in the situation we’re in.

£50mil imo. But youre right, and ive been a 'fan' of his since before we signed him.

There is nothing stopping us signing a younger replacement. That player could do onto become the worlds best, there arent many top tier sides looking for a new keeper....ours could be the best.

Don’t know much about toe sucking but can’t agree that 50m for Pickford would be “exceptional “ he’s coming into his prime , englands number one and is on a 5 year contract
As above, De Gea is 32.

What if Pickford starts going downhill in 2 seasons? Who buys him on £100k+ a week on the way down?

Need to get them on the way up.

I’d want a world record fee for a keeper. He’s better than Kepa who went for that amount. We probably won’t get it but that’s what I’d want for us to part with Pickford. If it’s 40 mill then we may as well just have found another quick kid like Gordon and mugged Newcastle off again for that amount.

£50mil+ for a 29 year old keeper can go a long way.

Remember, when Richarlison went we had more money to use due to FFP rules and book values etc

Id expect £50mil brings in £75mil which covers 2 signings -- who are better than Gordon. If they both double in value then happy days.

As i mentioned above, why Henderson?

Makes no sense to me at all.

Only sell him if it's a ridiculous, over the top fee like £70-80mil. Rinse the buyer's in the same way we did with Gordon, and earlier with Lescott. It's about time we were the club doing the rinsing rather than being rinsed. Rinse. And again rinse. Today's word is rinsed. I've just finished the washing up.

Who exactly have we gotten rinsed on? Maybe Arteta? Barkley I guess but that was different.

You’re argument is to get rid of a player who’s quality now, in case he becomes bad in a few years time and you recommend we sign a keeper who is worse than Pickford now so that he might be as good as him in a few years time.

Why are you surprised so many disagree with this?

Think its more us overpaying. The list is a long one. We have a decent record as a selling club of decent players. Its getting shut of the overpaid list thats the kicker.
Yeah that's definitely true. I think we get good money mostly. Rom, Stones, Richarlison, Gueye and Digne were all great deals for us off the top of my head.

Ball, (Michael), Lescott, Jeffers, the sick note we sold to City, (cant even remember his name). Rooney is always indexed, with the benefit of hindsight, but he was the world record teenager transfer at the time. I think.

£110m for Pickford, Onana, Maupay, Gray and Holgate.

Can we get the 7/8 players we'd need to improve the squad enough to not be dead certs for relegation with that money?

Highly doubtful I'd suggest.
