Ederson and Allison are better keepers. They just are. 50mil for Pickford is probably fair for both sides. The “England #1” thing regarding value is stupid. David James was Englands #1 for a time. Rob Green started in the World Cup. Why is that particular designation so relevant?
Not sure it's that easy to say that 'they just are'. Put either in Everton's team, behind Everton's defence and see how they get on. I assume that City's second keeper played in all 6 FA Cup games and conceded just 1 and that was a penalty.

I agree that 50m would be fair. But that is only considering his value on the open market. His value to Everton is much more than 50m. I just don't believe EFC can sell Pickford and no club will (understandably) pay the money that he is worth to Everton

Exactly m8, his actual value on the market isn't even comparable to his value to Everton !!

They are worlds apart, and we are not in a position as a club to take such a horrendous risk..

Tough 1 really.

If it was FM and I knew what we had to spend and which players we would replace him with, I could make a more informed decision, alas, im just a lad on a footy forum chatting utter biscuits.

Every player does indeed have a price, what is Jordans? Who knows.

Everything ive heard suggests thats hes very happy here, the mad lad, so unless somebody makes us an offer we really cant refuse, I suspect he will be retained, which for me is good news.

If hes sold and we invest wisely, thats also ok, but im less hopeful of that happening.

That’s the real argument. Our track record suggests we’d waste the funds on crap players in which case we should keep him because we already know he’s good.

Looking like we shouldn't have let Begović go now, does anyone know the reason for him leaving? Did we not offer a good enough contract?

Does anyone know how good our backup keepers are?

Don't think we should take it for granted that any big money sale would mean that the money would be available to reinvest into the team.
We've brought in well over 100 million over the past couple of seasons, and only a fraction was reinvested.

Can't say I agree with that at all. Pickford is imho their equal. It's a lot easier keeping clean sheets if your defence is any good look at de gea getting the golden glove and he's worse than all three.

This is perfect for that board this way of thinking: now they've got the fans thinking like they've achieved some kind of victory if we 'keep' Pickford by choosing to sell Onana instead of him, instead of, you know, actually building the team around them both.
I mean, it’s really not, since I never said I wanted to sell Onana, just that if we need to sell a high value player (which we likely do) then Onana would be far less damaging.

As everyone knows I'm not Pickfords biggest fan. 50 mill, id snap someone's hand off. I think we can equal him for half that. There must be someone out there and with our scouting network. Oh wait.
