Great 45 and Terrible 45 - he seemed to lose his concentration before the first goal and was screaming at players

1st goal - his step and positioning was poor but he had to make that step to see the ball and he was beaten by a thunderous shot.

2nd goal - Penalty wasn't the best but he was too committed.

3rd goal - Just terrible all around.

Good keeper but a terrible night for him

The 1st was his worst error. The second the issue was he did not get enough on his punch. The 3rd would be perceived by most as a kicking howler but I think can be attributed to game state. We were losing with only a few minutes left and desperately wanted to keep the ball in play. I think under different circumstances he puts that first time into row Z. Still extremely unlucky that it landed with Silva and then what a finish. He has been in excellent form. This feels like just a blip

Lost his head towards the end, this is what caused his howler for the third goal, all keepers make howlers, even Neville Southall and Gordon West made howlers. It's just an occupational hazard for a keeper, the nature of their position makes any mistakes they make potentially serious.

It is worth noting however, we would not even be in this league without Pickford's efforts last season and he has been having a good season again this time round. In fact, if you look back at last night, he was instrumental in keeping us in it in the office ending half hour. If all our players were at Pickford's level, we would not be in or around the relegation places.

Would not be in prem without him simple as that

Very good goalkeeper had a rough night its not the end of the world
Exactly. There'll be peaks and troughs to his game, like anyone's, but fortunately we've had him in goal with many more peaks that have ultimately saved us.

He's at fault for the third goal, and to be fair I'm not surprised it's happened because this season he's had a penchant for strolling out with the ball or to win it.

His distribution can be ropey too, and the combination of the two led to a goal yesterday. But, importantly, it's saved us many times, so back to the top line.

It's a mistake, let's move on. In terms of the first goal, my presumption is that he's felt it's going to be curled far post, so he's took a pre-emptive step to his right.

Foden has even seen this and adjusted, or quite simply was always going for the near post and it's out-foxed Pickford. It ain't great, but it ain't terrible either.

Could have done better on the first goal, should have done better (corner) on the second goal, and terrible on the third goal. Then you have no chance against Manchester City, when you give them three relatively easy goals.

I think the issue with Pickford is you can see when his heads gone, and it was very much looking that way before the 2nd goal imo.
I made a comment at the time it looked like Tarks was telling him to calm down.
Don’t know if it’s the fans got to him with the ‘Englands No 5’ or ‘Carson’s won more than you’ stuff or if it’s pressure of a run of not conceding at GP, but something triggered him and when it does he’s a ticking bomb for a mind fart, not to mention the excessive ranting at the defence that can’t do much than unsettle them.
Has definitely been key to keeping us up in the last couple of seasons, and on the whole the good outweighs the bad but jeez he can frustrate.

1st goal was a peach, right in the corner, yes he may have taken a step to the right a split second before, which most wouldn't have noticed were it not for replay/comms, however that shot would have beaten most keepers.
2nd goal, blaming a goalie for being 'too committed' and not saving a pen, is a new one on me.
3rd goal, his kicking error, and the first error I can recall for ages.

Long story short, he's our best player, without him we'd be in the division below, he's England's no 1 and our best goalie since Nev.
If you think that's a terrible night, I wonder did you ever watch Richard Wright?

Richard Wright...what a buffoon

Richard Wright
was ruled out of Everton's FA Cup fourth-round replay at Chelsea after suffering a freak injury during the warm-up. Wright ignored a notice warning him not to practise in the goalmouth and promptly fell over the sign, suffering a twisted ankle. He also damaged his shoulder falling through a loft as he was trying to pack away his suitcases.
