2024/25 Jordan Pickford

He’s been crap this season, no two ways about it.
Really like him and rate him and he’s been superb for us and England for years.

It’s ok to say he’s started really poorly this year, was hoping it was just a blip for us whilst we had an unsettled defence but he looked even worse last night.

Also anyone saying he couldn’t do anything about either last night - look at his positioning for the 2nd, woeful.
 
Crazy reactioins to one bad game(whole team were crap btw) but not surprising. Pickford always does well for England and should have credit in the bank a plenty but he's also the one player many have been chomping at the bit for a game last night. Mainly redsh!te and newcastle fans.
He could have 25 games for England. Do well in 24 and be jumped all over for 1 game. Its just how it is.

Iirc he started the following season pretty ropey after England went to the Euro 2020 final too.

Tbh it would be understandable if having all the stress of a long Euro campaign and not as much rest over the summer had an impact. Goalkeeping seems as much about being mentally sharp, reactions/positioning/anticipating, as being physically fit.
 
Last game will have done him the world of good IMO, say he really enjoyed it and will reinvigorate him.

A lot of players who went deep into the Euro particularly those in their later 20s/30s seems tired to me, if not physically, mentally.

You can only get a litre into a litre bottle.

More and more i think you see the impact f demands on players.

How has his form dipped since Alan Kelly left Everton, Kelly had left months before the announcement was made he was longer goalkeeping coach, Pickford has always had the same style of play since he has been here, a very good shot stopper but not a great goalkeeper, his personality hasn’t changed either he’s always been erratic and the ranting and raving has always been there although it’s gone over the top in the last eighteen months or so. Most Evertonians accept him for the way he is and rate him as a top class goalkeeper some of us see it differently and say so.

Because he's been pants all year.

Thought he left at the start of this season, I maybe wrong. Also most top keepers have specialised coaches.

I was under the impression he left during last season and it was announced at the start of this season. I imagine most “keepers have specialised coaches but when they move on they get a different one, he’ll have one with England, maybe the goalie we signed in the summer will be helping him now although he is only registered as a player. Pickford definitely needs some help with his temperament!

Didn’t watch the game… I’ve had about 10 different people tell me today how bad he was on Thursday and it’s time for a change!! My reply was 1 bad game in 7 years for England then.... was he really that bad??

They've had other try outs in the team during Jordan's England career but they didn't cover themselves in glory IMO.
There's no getting away from it though, he did have a poor game during the week with glaring mistakes but it was only one part of a poor team performance.
I would like to think he's going to hold on to the number one spot but the spotlight will certainly be on him even more than usual next time he plays.
