I don't think it says as much about the career as much as it says about the season he may have. Goalkeepers are under a tremendous amount of scrutiny and pressure. I hope he hits the ground running and doesn't take forever to adjust to the squad. Fortunately for us he has at least played in the league.

He wouldn't have been my choice. Let's hope he can repay the club on the massive outlay paid for him.

I'm in the same boat. His reactions are great and his distribution is promising. He is still a little short and I'm not sure he is the best communicator. He really could go either way- high risk high reward signing for me

6 foot for a GK is very short. It has to be a concern. I know there's examples of successful smaller GKs but by and large you'd want them to have that extra reach.

Back on the height lol Iker Casillas was 6"1 and is imo the best goalkeeper of this century. Keylor Navas for example, is also the same height as Pickford but plays for the best team in the world. I'm 6"6 but I am shockingly bad in goal.

Hang on, are you sure about that?? He looks like a big lanky thing on the telly, however that may be due to La Liga being full of midgets. He's an animal of a goalkeeper Keylor, so underrated.

I said the same about De Gea and have been proven totally wrong. I like Pickford, he seems a confident lad, we might have to suffer a few 'downs' before plenty of 'ups'.

It will help to have Keane as a dominant CB. I really wish the young man well.

Went to the odd Sunderland games and the best part of his goalkeeping was always the way he wasn't afraid to scream at defenders when they left him exposed and had to bail them out even when he had just broken through. Takes no poo that's for sure.

1.85m same as pickford according to google. He has a very good jump on him.

That's the big thing for me. Remember when Joel came into our team at the same age and looked an absolute bag of nerves, we won't get that with this lad, he's got a cockiness about him already.

Both Big Nev and Tim Howie gave their vote of confidence in Jordon. I am sure he will further improve as a keeper under proper coaching from Koeman and his staff.

What makes a good keeper great is their ability to close down angles, one on ones, shot stopping, good communication. Height isn't everything, I've seem keepers outjumped by strikers becsuse even though they are tall they don't have a good spring.

Like @Eggs has mentioned, Pickford will make mistakes and we will have to be ready for that but I would bet my last dollar that we've signed a keeper as close to a Neville Southall in ability as we could ever hope for. I'm hugely excited by his potential and I've said it since the day he signed, he is my top signing and the best move we could have made.
