Come on lets be honest if the taker puts something on it.....but last nights was more like a back pass.I like Pickford from what I've seen and he'll get an easy ride for a while. But if it had been Steklenberg or Robles who let that first one go straight down the middle...How many "poor" spot kicks do you see that go in though? Plenty. If Pickford goes the wrong way, then it's a great pen and the striker has "kept a cool head". No penalty save is easy, not one ever.

Just think some forum members are looking at last night game and being honest. He could have give a needless penalty away, their goal went straight down the middle and any one of our previous keepers would have been crucified for letting it in.And he was fortunate to face a joke of a penalty. That doesn't mean he isn't an upgrade on what we've had and he'll prove to be an excellent buy.Are people getting at Pickford? Really!? Hes been brilliant for us so far. A massive upgrade on what we had. Honest to god.
Your post, Groucho, lent me motivation toward investigating the homophone jibe/gibe/gybe:Not funny. God knows I disagree with Dave a lot but don't use mental illness as a jibe please.

Cool, thanks. I love word play.Your post, Groucho, lent me motivation toward investigating the homophone jibe/gibe/gybe:
Gibe means to taunt, demean, or sneer: “They gibed him about his mistakes.” It functions as both a verb (to taunt) and a noun(taunt)
Jibe means to shift direction: “They jibed their ship across the wind.” The sailing term may be spelled either gybe (UK) or jibe (US)
NB: colloquially, jibe also means to agree i.e. “their alibis jibed.”
My curious brain (in more ways than one!), then demanded avenue toward investigating words like 'gyp' (i.e is it spelt gyp or jip or gip?).
The first of these possible spellings seems 'most' correct (eg "My knee has been giving me gyp since I started running")
Gyp also means to cheat (eg I think the taxpayers are getting gypped".)
PS: I think Pickford is a great young talent.

@Groucho point still stands. This forum holds itself higher than using mental illness as a taunt.
