2017/18 Jordan Pickford

“From way off he was always, ‘I want to be number one’. He wanted you to challenge him on everything. We used to play out from the back and Jordan would start pinging it to the right winger and the centre forward, I’d go ‘Jordan, you know the philosophy, we want to play from the back’.

“His reply was, ‘Yeah I know, but I’m better than them’. You have to nurture that confidence. In one session I got the two keepers to swap with the centre backs and they went in goal. I wanted them to understand what it was like in that position. He was the best centre back on the pitch.” - Kevin Ball Sunderland Academy

Bet he’s experiencing similar thoughts now with ole Ashley in front!

He’s not been perfect, but Christ almighty.

People are actually slating him. Fair enough to point out his distribution has been dodgy lately, or we paid a lot of money, but to say things like he isn’t good enough is ridiculous.

The lad has arguably won us two games with saves against Stoke and Bournemouth, and has had to play behind probably the worst Everton defensive unit since the Walter Smith days. Aside from one or two he’s had no chance with the goals, and has actually been one of the very few positives so far this season.

Have a day off.

In the game at OT, frankly I would expect a keeper to save the lukaku goal. Leaving a huge gap in the near post isn’t something I would expect a keeper to do. He also kicked it straight to mata forcing Williams (I think) to concede a FK outside the box and thankfully for him the FK hit the post.

You’d expect a keeper to save a volley from 6 yards out?

Sound then, you complete and utter maniac.

“Zlatbro”.

There's only so much a keeper can do when they've got a rubbish back line in front of them. As Joel knows.
