I don’t even think it’d be that, I reckon it would just be incredibly ‘meh’. He’d improve us a bit but the football wouldn’t be great and the age of the squad wouldn’t come down, we’d finish 10th twice and he’d see his arse and say the club wasn’t backing him and that’d be the end of that.
I’m all in if he could do that!

And when I say catastrophically wrong, I mean like resigning 10 days into the job after decking Ashley Young wrong.
To be honest, football is supposed to be in the entertainment business - and it generally is. But Everton hasn't been part of that for 40 years. I've no interest in some boring Scandinavian accountant coming in, developing the youth, spending wisely, and moving us from 17th to 11th over 10 years, selling on promising youngsters at a profit, whilst taking us to three cup semi defeats to City, Chelsea, and the RS and a League Cup final loss to Barnsley.

All that worthy stuff is grand - but Everton used to be, once upon a time, about winning, about entertaining, and about glamour.

I'm 53. I was 23 when we last won something, and 15 when we were last truly competitive. Life's too short for the "sensible approach" which comes with no guarantees and plaudits for "knowing our place" as feeders to the big boys.

I'll take the snake oil of hope that some of us are foolishly getting drunk on right now on the tiny, off-chance that we might, just might, get lucky with a bit of glamour...

"I managed against Martinez's Everton, Moyes' Everton and it is always difficult.
"Goodison Park is beautiful. It is a great crowd and a great stadium which is historical for my country as Eusebio scored four goals in one match there during the World Cup in '66.
“I had so many great matches there. Some I lost, some I won, but always a great match"

Well he’s got six months to savour it if he joins and then we sack him 😄

Translation:

European competitions are about to begin, especially the Champions League, perhaps the most important competition on the world calendar. I won't be there in these final stages, not because I've already been eliminated, but because I've been "eliminated" by someone who knows little about football. So is life, full of ups and downs, and I'm growing, despite the unexpected and unfair dismissal. But I will return, and with even more enthusiasm and confidence, for these UEFA matches

It’s never ever happening.
