judge us at the end of the transfer window – not now

Assuming we get no freak injuries, which with us isn’t something to bank on, I think it’s been a fantastic window. Coady, Tarkowski, Onana, Gana and McNeil / New forward will probably start every game that they’re available for and on top of that we’ve got some really good depth for basically every position now.

I think Calvert Lewin coming back brings us up another couple of levels too. I’m not convinced that he’s become an injury prone player, he’s seemingly just been very unlucky, Mina is injury prone, Dom isn’t. I think if you look at it that way it changes the window we’ve had even more. Maupay is a decent starting striker in this league, as a second choice striker that offers something different he’s excellent. Him for Richarlison is the only clear downgrade but when you look at it as what it was actually supposed to be it’s Maupay replacing Rondon, which is an unreal upgrade.

All in all get the 2 midfielders in tomorrow and at least another forward option and I’d say it’s been an at least an 8.5/10 window, especially given the expectations going into it.

Getting Gana and Garner announced tomorrow would be a nice start to deadline day. But if we don’t sign a striker I will be worried that we simply won’t score enough goals to stay out the relegation zone
I just hope we dont do the Everton thing of drag these out all day, say them very late close to the window closing, then make out as though we were sorting the deals all day, so had no time to do anything else, we need another forward 100% for me

I’m afraid I’m going to have to factor in being winless in our first 5 games due to having no striker as part of the grand judgement.
Agreed it's absolute bonkers that we are willing to play 6 games plus with limited attacking options.
Should be judged at kick off on the first game of the season why handicap the manager and we are already playing catch up.

Very good window indeed for incoming think it's agreed a striker would top it off.
Would like to see a couple of players moved on Tom Davies needs for his own good to move on and play regular football, chances will be limited at the end of the window.
Gomes, Rondon , are a spent force.
If the right players come in, I'd have been inclined to move Gray on also as 1 decent game in four isn't good enough, though too late now I'm thinking.

Oh of course we are, failure to get a striker in till last Friday shows there’s still massive issues but, barring a last second madness, Penfold seems to have kept his oar firmly out of any transfer business and we’re being more sensible with deals

I'm taking a slightly different tack on it mate, I think we have a very set budget in terms of cash and wages available to use this season (and by proxy next for deals done this).

And we've done the hard choice of hanging on till for when the right player becomes available at the right price and generally stuck to that method.

If we'd got a striker in earlier say, maybe we have to pay an extra few million, maybe a greater percentage up front and 10k pw more on the guy.

Which short term sees us better off, but means longer term we literally miss out on 1-2 additional players we msy be able to get as we run out of budget.

The way we've done it probably maximizes the incomings which long term is better than the quick panic fix attempts of yesteryear.

I'd rather have both Maupay and say Garner and Gueye now than have that striker in 4 weeks ago and then watch as both them lads move elsewhere as we have no money left.

Moshiri for me has gained some credit here, he's appointed a DoF and finally allowed him to do his job without interference
