Rafael Benitez all day long for me. Just a stupid stupid appointment. Never mind his actual performance, I think it was that point I truly realised how inept our current custodians are. A true head scratcher. Always doomed to fail. Set in the context of our financial woes don't appoint him, ffs.

As for players... Sandro and Gbamin were, for different reasons, a disaster but I could see some logic to the signings.

Siggurdson symbolises how stupid with money our board was. A record fee on meh.

Michael Keane for £30m is a shocker. David Weir would be worth £90m. I liked Weir for the record. Stupid money for a bottom half of the Premier League centre back.

They were nearly all terrible, but it has to be taken into account that they very quickly adjusted to the culture of mediocrity that has become part of the Everton DNA during the last 20 or so years, and as result there was no pressure on them to perform to their full potential. It's not just a coincidence that they nearly all performed poorly.

Added to that is the fact that we massively overpaid for them and paid them extortionate amounts of money and you have a lethal cocktail which was only going to end in disaster.
