Transfer Rumour Kalidou Koulibaly

Koeman's work with Fonte VVD Cedric and Bertrand should be enough to dispel doubts that any defensive signing will be a dud or a clown.

All 4 of those players have improved greatly under Koeman. Moyes also had a track record of improving Centre half's to international level, but Koeman has also shown improvement in his front line of Pelle, Long and the overpriced kopite, Mane. Whoever we buy will hopefully prove to be a resounding success.

There has been more smoke on Koulibaly to Everton in the media than the Witsel and Mata stories combined. With the sale of Stones imminent, there's got to be at least a distinct possibility, @The Esk?

Not a hope .. it's only Everton's way of forcing Chelsea out of the Witsel race.

Seems to me that most of the transfer rumours running concerning EFC are of the Stalking Horse variety aimed at flushing out the "bigger" clubs. Whilst we have cash, it isn't always that easy to spend it

I think we will offer a deal that he can't resist.

Beats our last magician who turned our defence into quivering jelly

It depends what the player wants

If he's interested merely in money, then yeah, they'll always be able to offer more than we could

If he's interested in more that just money, then he might like the idea of having a bigger role at Everton than he possibly would at Chelsea

There's nothing wrong with him going to Chelesea merely for the money either BTW

I'd agree if this was 4-5 years ago as he would probably sit on the bench but the state of Chelsea's defence means he will be a starter, so we wouldnt even have the 'first team football' advantage. Plus he's foreign so London would appeal. Basically there is nothing we can offer that they cant which is why if its a straight choice he's off to Chelsea imo.

Maybe the intention is to test how serious Chelsea are for him, will conte demand the player or will he switch to another target, IF any of the interest in him is actual and not just rumours ofc.

worst case scenario we drive the price up that chelsea have to pay in fee and wages, which isnt exactly bad for us.

After last year with Mourinho, Terry and Cahill all talking in the papers about Stones going to Chelsea I would like us to do this for every player they are in for.
