From the type of player he is, I would say he can hit 10 goals next season. With Jelavic scoring for fun, I just hope that this season we can start strongly.

Am i the only one not quite getting the hysteria surrounding us possibly signing this guy ? he had a good season last year but prior to that he had an absolutely terrible goals per game ratio, one good season in a subpar league and he's now amazing and a great signing ?

ill happily admit i know next to nothing about the guy other than the stats and his youtube video looks promising (dont they all though ?) but none of the arsenal fans seem particularly arsed about possibly signing him.

why all the hype ?

Just so you know, I picked up on this earlier in the thread. The hope is he picks up where he left off in Greece, rather than revert back into the player he was in Ligue 1 i.e not known for his goals.

He'll be playing on the wing for us, not upfront but i can see him getting 7-10 goals for us, but plenty of assists.

I think one of his weaknesses is going for goal himself when he should have passed the ball.

I'm not sure, but I don't think he is particularly known for getting many assists?

i think he will bring the confidence he gained in greece with him here. now we have to hope he at least finds some success early so he doesnt lose that confidence. look at jelly. he got off to a great start and he never slowed down

i dont understand it either

1) We once went about two years without buying a player. It's not like we get to do this that often.

2) Why not be optimistic and hopeful for a while? Nobody is keeping score and it's more fun.

3) He has a sexy name.

4) He did score 20 goals. I know it was "only" Greece -- there were only three players who scored more than 20 in the Prem: RVP, Rooney and Aguero ... we can't afford two of them and one of them we have to wait a few more years for so Greece it is.

5) I'm still terrified until I see something on the OS.

Yeah, Jelavic is a very good example of a player bringing all their confidence with them. If Mirallas starts against Villa next weekend and scores, I'd probably feel more at ease. The longer he goes without scoring in this league, though, the worse it'll get.

I read EB's report on him and he said he had a type B personality or something. Anyway he said that was the best as it means he has a lot of confidence but very little fear of failure.

Learnt about personality types in psychology, cool.

I'm getting excited about this guy. I think it's just rare for us to sign someone with skills and pace.

There's a decent chance he'll need a bit of settling in time and to have some of the selfishness trained out of him, but his innate attributes are brilliant. Skillful, pacey, scores goals. *jizz

Nice. Sounds like Jelavic when he was interviewed during the Man City game when he signed. Jelavic basically just said "I'm here to score goals," with the utmost confidence.

If he signs this weekend, I'd imagine he might get a sub appearance at Villa. Moyes isn't one to unleash this sort of player straight away. It took R. R. almost a month to get a start and that was in a cup game, if I recall correctly.

Wow.

He's signing. Cheers.
He's not signing. Bleachings.
He's due for a medical tomorrow. Cheers.
He's in Brussels playing the Dutchies so no medical. Bleachings.
Fee agreed and medical in 48 hours. Cheers.

Debuchy is coming ain't he? Get in Moyes.

Overfapping obviously causes delusional behavior. Keep it in check, lads.
