Kevin Mirallas

I just get the feeling there is an ongoing issue between him and martinez, we keep hearing about injury after injury with it today being the hamstring which was supposedly better weeks ago and the stoke game was his last injury but shock horror he defies what is probably a team instruction for baines to be on penalties if he feels confident and then suddenly manages to tweak his hamstring again with about 2 minutes before half time.

If the rumours of a Distin fallout aswell with martinez a couple of months back were true didnt he also cover that up as persistant injury issues.

Whether he is in form or not its rare that a player is that adamant to defy his manager and then with naismith after the game saying "we think hes injured he didnt come back to the changing room" If that is the case and there has been talk of unrest with certain players then those type of players need to be gone and what makes it worse is if you actually looked at our results without a tinted opinion on martinez from last season its a miracle he hasn't been kicked out yet aswell.
Mirallas rushed to hug Martinez as recently as the Spurs game and did it last season as well.

Think the issue is less that he doesn't get on with him but that he wants to show he can carry the team - his ego was writing cheques his foot couldn't deliver. He has talked a lot recently about stepping up and taking responsibility, think this was a (misguided) way of doing that.

I have come to the conclusion that Mirallas has a move lined up and this was to be his last appearance at Goodison before departing at the end of the month.

So he thought he would score and then make some grand gesture to the crowd.

It is the only sense I can make of the whole fiasco.

Fellaini did that, in the league cup game, last thing he ever did for us was score, still think its a shame he got booed at Old Trafford. Be sad if the same happened to Kev. Yes he made one bad mistake tonight, be he has been a great player for us, we cant forget that.

He tried to stand up and take responsibility in a difficult situation and it all went a bit Everton.

I think this is the closest to the truth I've seen in this thread, although I'd put a more negative spin on it. I think he's fed up with his teammates' poor performances in general and this was the end result of that mounting frustration. Too often he throws his hands up in an "I give up" sort of way after a bad pass. I'm sure he wants out, and I'm also sure he wasn't trying to force a move with his childish display.

If we go down and the two points dropped due to the penalty miss makes the difference between staying put and going diwn then no one will remember him with fondness, no matter how good he was for us on one of his going days.

I am still coming to terms with it.

You don't really know what us happening when you are at the match but I have watched it a dozen times now on TV and I am still dumbstruck by it all.

I did record it on Sky, I'm half tempted to watch it again tomorrow night, maybe out of morbid curiosity i dunno, but i do need to see for myself exactly what went down just to put my mid at rest.

Not sure if Sky showed the same wide-angle replay of the other players reacting that NBC Sports did, but it's as bad as you can imagine.

I watched it on Sky after I came home and they showed Lukaku try to take the ball off've him and Naismith shouting angrily at him before Baines has a few words and then left him to it.

As I say, you don't notice all that when you are at the match but everyone's text messages started coming in from friends watching at home and I reckon if Mirallas had came out for the second half he would have been roundly booed because we all knew what had happened by then.

Did they show Barry gesturing toward Jags to step in? That was the worst part for me.
