Kevin Mirallas

He's a luxury player who doesn't score or create as many goals as Deulofeu or Mirallas. Also looks a mixture of tired and complacent to me.

13/14 was Mirallas best season for us. 32 PL games, 8 goals, 9 assists.

This season has been Del's best. 20 PL games, 2 goals, 9 assists

Same for Ross, this has been his best season. 22 PL games, 6 goals, 7 assists.

Essentially, Ross is having a better season this season than Mirallas has ever had for us and while Del has assisted more goals this year Ross' contribution as a whole has been greater.

The problem is fans expect Barkley to be scoring 40 yard screamers in every game... if he doesn't he's not on form. Personally thought he was excellent against Chelsea.

Only ignorant biffs, or park enders

can I just get this in writing for future reference, you think cleverley is a better player than barkley?

At the moment I don't actually think there's as much in it as some would like to imagine, but of course Barkley has the pace, power, ability to beat a man, and shooting Cleverley could dream of. Cleverley is, however, a much better reader of the game, has much more stamina, much more determination and is a better passer of the ball. So is Cleverley better? No. Is he a different option, and so possibly a better option for this Everton team? Maybe. In my opinion, yes.

Barkley starts every week and hasn't struggled with injuries mate. Not doubting his potential, and also not doubting he's a capable player, but if we want to push on to the next level, we have to look at other teams' options and realise we can do better.

Jaysus, I guess the point that I just made is irrelevant. It's why i compared Barkley's performance to Kev's best season for us where he played 50% more games than Barkley has so far this season.

There isn't a team in the country that wouldn't snap the hand off to get Barkley.

Anyway, if you think he shouldn't be playing you should probably prepare yourself for what will hopefully be more than a decade of you seeing him start for Everton and your national team.

Not that your point is irrelevant, but more that your point is offset by the fact that Mirallas suffers due to often playing mere minutes towarsd the rear end of matches, playing with injury issues, and not sustaining runs in the team due to injuries. No doubt Barkley is having his best season, but just think with Mirallas looking sharp and hungry, he could benefit with a couple weeks on the bench, to regain fitness and form. Often arguing he should start for England!!

Mirallas' mins/goal & assist in 12/13 = 136 mins

The same for Barkley this season is 154 min/goal & assist.

Mirallas played 11 league games that season... hardly a great sample size. Using the same logic you could say Jelavic is more effective than Lukaku due to his unbelievable first 6 months.

And if I timetravelled back to that period with Lukaku, I'd still start Jelavic, because he is the more effective striker at that time for that Everton. Obviously, I'd get rid sooner but that point is, I'm not saying Barkley is a bad player, I'm saying that right now I think we would be more effective if Barkley sat on the bench for a bit. Earnt his way back into the side.

I was just letting the other poster know why the comparison he's making there isn't like for like or even close to it.

.....clearly something has gone on because he's got too much to offer to be out of the side for so long.

He's not to be trusted. You can guarantee if he was a starter for any length of time he'd lose his discipline and start moping around the pitch or getting red cards or demanding all the free kicks and penalties.

Needs to be used sparingly and at the manager's discretion.
