Kevin Mirallas

Why?

Deulofeu was better than Kev in the Barnsley game despite being far from fit. Which was probably why Mirallas was subbed on before him at the Spurs game but he did so little that people seem to have forgot he was even on the pitch. Tbf Gerard didn't do much better with his 6 mins in the same game but he did have a good international break which suggested he was on form whilst Kev didn't even play.

Despite being young and supposedly temperamental haven't seen Gerard sulk off down the tunnel when he is left on the bench after the last sub has been made whilst iirc Kev has done that twice already this season. A manager like Mourinho wouldn't tolerate that sort of behaviour - you'd be off the team completely. Don't think Martinez is quite that strict but perhaps he is trying to get the message across that it is a team rather than individual game and you need to wait for your chances patiently and take them when they come.

Gerard also did a very nice track back and recovery tackle vs Swansea....without getting any card so would imagine he has jumped ahead of Mirallas in the order.

No examples of Kev sulking at all. And you're actually using Mourinho as a decent example of a manager who doesn't tolerate bad behaviour? Wow.

The tackle against Swansea was stupid and a rush to the head. He'll more than play his part this season.

Also, Kev came out in the Echo last week and said 'I need to be patient'. So the message was already across, obviously.

I referenced him leaving the bench this season before full time when all the subs had been made - it is possible that Kev's had a stomach complaint that we didn't know about but tbh that looks suspiciously like sulking because you haven't been used.

Mourinho will tolerate bad behaviour against others if it benefits his team, he certainly won't tolerate anyone challenging his right to choose his starting eleven or when/if to make subs.

I think the "be patient" message Mirallas knows in principal but may be struggling to follow it in practice. However he is a very talented player and hope that after his ban is served he'll get his chance to shine.

I really don't think he was sulking but I suppose it's all down to opinions. Fair enough.

For me, Kev played well against Watford, but he got a nasty injury so couldn't start at Sotton. Kone proved useful as he supports Rom in holding the ball up against teams that come out at us. When we play against teams who sit back, Mirallas should play. But in fairness, we've only had two of those games so far this season - Watford and (in theory) Barnsley, but they came out at us. He's done himself no favours with the red, but I still think he'l play a big role this season.

Me too.

Think he can be a moody tit but despite that (or at times even because of it) really like him!

To those who argue he hasn't had a run in the team....when's the last time he was able to? The Belgian fanny is injured every 60 minutes.

He hasn't been called up by Belgium

Mirallas has been available for selection for 37 games a season on average while he's been here. Hardly the injury prone player he's made out to be.

He needs to sort his attitude out and not just expect to picked. We all know how good he can be but we don't see it enough. When he has been given a chance to impress the majority of the time he hasn't taken it. Right now they are players in the squad playing better than he is, that's just a fact. You'd think it would make him buckle down and work harder, not get himself red-carded when he does come on.

To be fair to him, I think a lot of people have decided he's a sulk and so everything he does just supports their theory. Confirmation bias if you like.

I've not seen any evidence that he thinks he should be picked every week and has a bad attitude. He signed a new contract in the summer despite having been out of the side towards the end of the season, so he doesn't seem to have thrown his toys out of the pram. He seems popular with other players and Martinez obviously didn't think he was disruptive or you would imagine he would have taken the opportunity to get rid rather than extend his contract.

I'm surprised that he's still getting stick for the penalty incident, seeing as it became clear later in the season that Baines had seen his backside over taking them and would let anyone who wanted to put their hand up take over. My feeling at the time was that he had been the only one willing to step up 1st against West Ham in the cup 5 days earlier and so felt he should get the chance in a game situation.

Also, I can't see how getting a red card automatically shows him to be selfish? It was a stupid challenge like, but I'm pretty sure he wasn't intending to get sent off or thinking it would put the team under pressure. Do we think Kone and McCarthy are selfish for getting booked on monday? Absolutely no need for diving or taking your shirt off - everybody knows they're both automatic yellows. What if McCarthy had been in a situation where he had to make a desperate tackle after that? Naimith seems to be seen as the ultimate team player but it's amazing how many times he gives free kicks away just because he's wound up. Watch the Stoke away game last year for an example which cost us a goal.

last year he was nailed on for our poty until that penalty incident

he's the most consistent and direct out of all our attacking players imo. him and gerry on either wings would be frightening.
