problem now is his stock his dropping rapidly, how much would we get for him? i think naismith might be worth more at the mo lol

Again you're ignoring his actual words talking in absolutes

You're also ignoring the fact he signed a new deal which would be incredibly stupid if it was "is longstanding wish to leave the club"
I fail to see the context argument here: he's saying he'll have a first team place or he'll look to move on.

How am I wilfully misconstruing things here?

As for his new contract: he took that because Everton had an option that they were going to exercise anyway. His agent must have woken up to that fact and advised him he may also have the security of a longer term contract in case anything happened to him in the intervening period. There was no loyalty and willingness to knuckle down about it, just pure fiscal hard headedness.

This Everton team is ninth and the one last season 12th. I don't know where this notion that we've got a great team and there's no room for Mirallas comes from. No player in the starting 11 except perhaps Stones and Lukaku are 'vital' to this side.

Mirallas is not a bad egg, why would the club have offered him a new contract if he was? He's a very talented attacking player who is being mis managed as Martinez prefers formations with at most one winger and often none at all.

If you're saying that there's no space anywhere across our front four for Kevin Mirallas because it's packed with vital players I don't agree with you. The league table for the last 18 months would suggest none of them should be immovable.

Mirallas just doesn't suit the style we play. Not ideally anyway. That, added to the fact he's in atrocious form, means he his out in the cold. Of course, every post leads to a Martinez punch line for you, so it's all grist to that particular mill.

Incredibly, I think they're about the same value now.

naismith will dine off that hat trick for a while, i reckon we could get a relegation threatened club to buy him

get a sland/newcastle bidding war going and we could get 10 mill lol

as mentioned earlier, i think mirallas is more likely to go abroad

What we need is for Norwich to start losing again and hope they're desperate to come back in for him.

This is what I don't understand about those who want to sell Naismith. If Lukaku goes down tomorrow, who plays upfront? We have three senior strikers on the books two of whom are often playing on the flanks for us. If Naismith goes we could be left potentially with Kone upfront by himself if there's any Lukaku injury. Is Naismith a poor left winger, yes. Is he a poor striker? Not in my view. Again though how many games does he get in his proper position?

On his own up top is a disaster - when lukaku got injured in the first season we saw that - we didnt look like we had a hope of scoring. kone plays there, and if not martinez needs some serious questions about going into a season with two strikers, or one of the reserves steps up. I'd say Nasmith is a good number 10 with a strike partner but as a lone striker we dont make enough chances for someone who isn't strong. he'd just be isolated i think (not his fault)

i'd want us buy another striker mate

Naismith is not a lone striker. He needs to play in a front 2 or 3.

He can do a job in emergencies but I think even with Kone in good form we still need to be looking at bringing in another striker, unless this Rodriguez lad breaks into the first team any time soon.

Of the front 4 hes not getting in ahead of Barkley/Lukaku or Deulofeu.

The only spot he has a chance of is on the left where Kone and Cleverley are preferred by the manager...

It appears that Mirallas/McGeady as the specialist wingers there are rated behind the other two so likely that they will be moved on irrespective of any quotes from Mirallas.

At the moment we only have Lukaku up front....Naismith is a player who fits in nowhere.

Naismith and Mirallas would fetch £16mil+ which is enough for a new player who fits into our system better than either of them.

What player do you get though? You've lost cover outwide and up top. We're virtually saying that Del has to uphold his form for the whole season on that right side or play Lennon. Kone would be the only natural backup to Lukaku.

I would keep Mirallas play him on the flanks, move Barkley back into midfield then Kone or new signing can play 10 so you can play two out and out wingers. We could probably offload a defensive mid as well if Barkley took one of the deeper spots.
