At the moment we only have Lukaku up front....Naismith is a player who fits in nowhere.

Naismith and Mirallas would fetch £16mil+ which is enough for a new player who fits into our system better than either of them.

Sorry but your wrong.

Im not Naismiths biggest fan, but as an SS(@Ashtonian) hes a valuable squad member, we have nobody similar to him within the squad, hes like a Cahill-lite, a niggly player who winds up the oppo and grabs the odd vital goal, hes not good enough to start games, what I mean is we have better options, but as an impact sub im a big fan and think he has a place within the squad.

Mirallas is unpredictable, inconsistent and at times a moody little tart, but hes a superb player at times and if he was given a bit more love by the manager we have a real talent.

Mirallas should be starting every game for me.

What player do you get though? You've lost cover outwide and up top. We're virtually saying that Del has to uphold his form for the whole season on that right side or play Lennon. Kone would be the only natural backup to Lukaku.

I would keep Mirallas play him on the flanks, move Barkley back into midfield then Kone or new signing can play 10 so you can play two out and out wingers. We could probably offload a defensive mid as well if Barkley took one of the deeper spots.

Ross Barkley cant tackle and cant defend.

He's disruptive for the club. No doubt most of the players will tolerate him, even though they know he should be doing like them and knuckling down to fight for their place.

Mind you, he's done it that often now that maybe the situation is that all the players and coaching staff just roll their eyes, smile and say "davek's off on one again", and it has no impact. That wouldn't surprise me, tbh.
Fixed.

Ross Barkley cant tackle and cant defend.

Recent stats would suggest otherwise. Check out the England 11 based on form on sky sports.

When Ross plays deeper I think he would do these things more. When he plays 10 though he knows any tackle is likely to be from behind and a foul so he just lets players go maybe even under instruction to do so and wait for the counter.

When him and Besic played the deep roles they had no problem attacking and defending as a pair. There's a myth in the game that if you play deep midfield you have to be great defensively. Ferguson would often play two attacking midfielders in a flat 4. We play two defensive mids and still get walked through on a weekly basis.

If Barkley is excluded from the real midfield slots because he can't defend or tackle (allegedly) then why are the two current incumbents allowed to get away with being unable to attack or score?

The result, and it is clear to see most weeks is a massively unbalanced midfield.

Stats?

Why do you need stats, do you not watch every minute of every Everton game?

Fully agree with your first section but why should Kev start over Kone/Deulofeu?

Both are currently in better form, sure if Kev is played he might work his way back into the groove but there is no gaurantee of that. Imo players should earn their spot and keep it based on performances - until he starts making more of his 20+ minute sub appearances or occasional starts Kev deserves to be behind those two who both began the season in the same boat that Kev is in now but whose contributions forced them into being picked.

Mirallas is talented and in his peak years physically so should in theory be able to outperform both of them, he just has to show it. In the last 4 games we've had he's had 20mins, 98 mins, 25 mins and 26 mins - shouldn't he be having a little more influence on the games than he has to deserve a starting berth?

Mirallas certainly hasnt helped himself this season, but he should be starting games ahead of Kone for me.

Thats not to take away how well Kone has played at times and I suppose he probably does deserve his place currently, I just dont think Kev has had a proper crack at a starting spot so far this season.

Personally prefer a team where starts are merit based with genuine competition. One of my biggest criticisms of Martinez is that Robles cannot get a chance at a starting spot irrespective of how well he performs or how badly Howard does.

If Kone drops in form/needs a rest/is tactically unsuited to a game then someone else can start in his place but think it would just send out completely the wrong message to regularly bench him for Kev at this time.

At the moment i see this:

CF -- Lukaku /
RW - Deulofeu / Lennon
AM - Barkley / Osman / Naismith
LW - Kone/McGeady/Mirallas/Cleverley/Pienaar

What we should be seeing is;

CF -- Lukaku / ?
RW - Deulofeu / Lennon
AM - Barkley / ?
LW - ? /Kone

I think we need a first choice left winger as well as competition for Lukaku and Barkley. Cleverley i think would be moved centrally when a new LW is added and 5 players should be out the door to make room.

I dont mind Naismith. However like you say he's not good enough to be starting games and at this moment in time neither are McGeady, Mirallas, Pienaar or Osman.

I think the writing is on the wall for McGeady and Osman + Pienaar will be out of contract at the end of the season.

We have Kone on the left, we also have Cleverley who is favoured there.

If Mirallas, McGeady and Naismith were sold i would be confident that we could sign a LW as first choice with the money. Then additionally use funds to bring in competition for Lukaku and still have two players for every position with others also able to slot in.

So you want to keep Kone to play LW and get rid of Mirallas???

Mirallas, who stars in both calendars, said: 'The first calendar was such a success and raised a lot of money for Everton in the Community so we were only too happy to get involved again for 12 Shades of Blue 2. 'All of the players are aware of the ground-breaking work the charity carries out every day and we have all been impressed by how it caters for such a diverse range of the region's community.

'I visited the charity in September and got the chance to see first-hand how many young peoples' lives are touched by the charity's hard work. Here's hoping 12 Shades of Blue 2 will be just as popular and raise even more money for Everton in the Community"
