Wasn't that good either. Would have had him off after 65 at latest.

He doesn't have sexy hair or do step overs so people instantly think he's poor.
His chemistry with Rom is fantastic, he adds a lot of physicality and takes defenders away from Lukaku. Not many teams can deal with the strength of both him and Rom, Palace did tonight but they've got a very good and solid defensive unit.

No. Sometimes you need a more direct approach to win a game because Palace were excellent defensively. Kevin is by far the most direct player on the team, and he can shoot with both feet as well as create his own shot. Even if Palace starts to mark him up, that opens up other players and it makes a difference.
Hell, I think the whole board was screaming at our players for passing up shots in favor of the pass that just wasn't there tonight. We needed something different, and while we created some good chances they were great strikes rather than great team play for the most part (excluding the goal).

Quite honestly, as well as Barkley played tonight, we sorely missed him right behind Lukaku. We need to sign someone damnit. Kone ain't bad, but he's not good enough to feature every game.

we needed Kev in the final half-hour because he's a direct attacker...pussyfooting (and the post) wasn't breaking Palace down.
Considering how ineffective and sluggish Kone was after the 60min mark it was a no-risk sub to make.
If Kev's days are numbered, then so be it. Still daft not to use his talent when we're paying him fat monies every week.

Kone should start on Saturday for sure, and he wasn't that poor tonight, but that aside was terrible from Martinez tonight to not give him at least the last 10 minutes, so close to a win, some fresh eager legs with 10 to go running at them might of made the difference.
