Kevin Mirallas

Kone should start on Saturday for sure, and he wasn't that poor tonight, but that aside was terrible from Martinez tonight to not give him at least the last 10 minutes, so close to a win, some fresh eager legs with 10 to go running at them might of made the difference.

This is a reasonable as
Mirallas could have played from the left wing for the last 20mins and made the pitch wider. that would have given the lads in the middle more space and palace something to be worried about from that side. Kone was receiving the ball and was at walking pace before laying it off. Very easy to defend against.

That would be true with a fully effective Mirallas of the type we haven't seen in a long time.

Not even going to bother getting frustrated at not seeing him playing as already well accepted the fact that come January he will be getting sold should teams come in for him - which they will do

Happy with settling for a point and leaving a player on for the last third of a game thats clearly not contributing ? For me id rather take the chance and get fresh legs on and an added threat.

So much rewriting of history in here from people who have just decided they don't like Kev's attitude.

Steadfastly refusing to give him any time on the pitch is a waste of a very talented footballer. Kone may be doing alright, but even at his best he's still along way short of what we've seen of Kev at his best.

I honestly don't believe he's a threat to team harmony, I don't think he's any more of a defensive liability than any other wide player, and I don't see that keeping him on the bench is helping either him or the team.

Starting him for Norwich would do no harm whatsoever.

Again, you might have a point if we were fetching on a player who could be relied upon to "clearly contribute".

That ain't Mirallas.......he is just as liable to sulk as contribute and his head down, cutting in, always looking to shoot from improbable angles and distances when other options are available style of play is the anthisesis of how our exciting offence plays today.

As others have said, Naismith would have guaranteed us more commitment and been as big a goal threat.

Anyone who thinks Mirallas was the answer to our problems last night (which were nil in attack, BTW, just the rub of the green was lacking) doesn't know what the question was.

As ever, all IMO :)

Flair players are always a difficult proposition

I personally don't want him to go, and I think he should have come on for the last 20 last night just to add some fresh legs to the attack

It's a shame to see some people on here getting out the knives for him, when I think it's clear he appreciates the support he's received from the fans since coming here

They've sided immediately with Martinez and just assumed it's all Kev's fault

Kev showed when he came on against Boro that he'll give his all when he actually gets on the pitch

This is not all down to him, but the narrative already seems to be "prissy flair player causing bother and Martinez is putting him in his place" when I've seen nothing to suggest that this is actually happening

Martinez is also culpable in this

The game was crying out for him in the last 10 last night. As soon as we scored he should have been on for Kone - who didn't play badly but had tired notably in the second half.

As someone has said, Naismith would've been another good option. Nothing wrong with changing things for 10 minutes.

Agreed.

Kone was out on his feet, and it was crying out for the pace and energy of Mirallas in the last 15-20.

I thought he could've mixed things up a bit last night with 20 to go, Kone worked hard and showed good touches, breaking up their play as well, but he didn't offer enough of a goal threat and when we were dominating I figured Miralles pace and shooting ability could've worked. It looks as though he's off and maybe that's why he's getting no game time.
