Kevin Mirallas

He also ran down opponents a minute after coming on vs Swansea. One thing he isn't is dependable.
Kev would have NEVER tracked back once the ball turned over to Palace
Thats an absolute statement. Its positively wrong.

and the fact that he got a red card means he's a petulant player? Nope, nobody's made mistakes that they wanted the chance to atone for.

He would have shrugged his shoulders and sulked
and Bolasie and Puncheon would have stormed towards our box
Palace are genuinely one of the best counter-attacking teams in the league – Defensively Mirallas would have offered absolutely nothing.
Kone had an okay game. Maybe Naismith would have been a suitable sub. Not Mirallas though.
Hope to see him start vs Norwich.

Pure conjecture

Of course it's conjecture.
I'm not going to say "Kev might have not tracked back once the ball turned over to Palace" to avoid your nitpicking.
I'm a big fan of Kevin Mirallas, but him coming on last night seems to some here to have been some sort of footballing panacea that Martinez blindly missed.
Throwing on Kevin Mirallas last night, in my opinion, was not the solution to us winning the game.

His style of play is totally at odds with what we witnessed on the field at Goodison last evening.

No it isn't

He can pass the ball just fine

His style of play was just fine when him and the manager weren't having a spat

That's what this is all about at the end of the day. Mirallas is perfectly capable of playing in this side and doing what Martinez wants.

They need to sort this out between them and we can maybe get Kev at LM with Del at RM, which could be outrageous

But making 1 sub last night and not replacing an ineffective and exhausted Kone was the right one? At the very LEAST he(or even Naismith) should have been on after we scored. It would have added more pressure to a wavering Palace defence.

I agree with that. Kone's effectiveness diminished hugely as the game progressed (he had 1 great chance in the first half about 2 clear chances in the 2nd that he messed up).
Agree that Martinez was a bit cowardly with his lack of substitutions - I just don't fully agree that Mirallas was absolutely that right substitution in last night's game.

Making 1 sub last night and not replacing an exhausted Kone

It was the same against Bournemouth

Kone was fine in both games, but he got tired

Kev could have been slotted in there just fine. The fact he wasn't says it all about his current relationship with Martinez

When Kev came on against Boro he went all out. He wasn't slacking or showing any petulance. He got his head down and did his job

Ni doubt he should have been brought on last night. The 11 players had not put the ball in the net and even though controlling the game chances were not finished and mostly were made because of brilliant efforts by lukaku.

The failure to make champs league this year will be colossal. Lukaku stones will defo be gone. Barkley and prib del will look and these sales and apply to move ash well. You need to grab the chance. Not hope for the best as we did last night. Hope the lukaku can hit a cracket from 20 yrds. Not good enough. We need to take this opportunity. So why leave on the likes of kone who had a decent game but was wrecked. Mirallas would have been chomping at the bit. He might be a moody but will try when give game time. Got for it in other words. Full out. If you get ahead shut up shop. Sub him again then if necessary. I d be ruthless . Ruthless I say.

While it's not 100% nailed on that Lukaku and Stones would be off, it's always a possibility

In that scenario, we might need to lean on a man like Kev to keep us in the mix

This is another reason why we would need to be weary about letting him leave

We might make Champions League and still lose players, depending on who comes in for them.

As the players came back on at half time last night, I noticed Mirallas standing on the edge of the pitch giving each player a quick shake hands or a pat of encouragement.
It didn't seem like the attitude of a player that is isolated and wants out.

I think the truth may be simpler.
The manager has a formula at the moment that is really working from an attacking perspective.
Kone, Barkley, Lukaku and Deulofeu are absolutely flying and it is hard for anybody to break in past that group.

Lennon is seeing even less gametime than Mirallas. In time opportunities will come for other players and until then they need to be patient. I am sure that even though they may not like it but they can see why certain players are picked every week.

It's not about Mirallas not getting picked in the first place, he shouldn't have started that's pretty obvious. It's the fact that he didn't come on when the perso. He would replace was out on his feet and offering us nothing.

I don't think last nights game suited Mirallas at all. He needs space to run into. Palace sat deep. It would have made more sense to bring Naismith on who is able to forage in the box and exploit a defence sitting deep.

There is also the point though as you've said that Martinez has a style he likes to play. He likes having 1 winger and 1 player who comes inside.

Funny how Lennon has now been forgotten it seems...he was the "must be signed" hero last season and now isnt getting games either due to Deulofeu's performances.

Mirallas isnt getting games because Martinez doesnt see him as the best option for the team...

Clearly we need to move some players on and Martinez will keep rebuilding the squad as he has been doing. Bigger picture!
