Again, you might have a point if we were fetching on a player who could be relied upon to "clearly contribute".

That ain't Mirallas.......he is just as liable to sulk as contribute and his head down, cutting in, always looking to shoot from improbable angles and distances when other options are available style of play is the anthisesis of how our exciting offence plays today.

As others have said, Naismith would have guaranteed us more commitment and been as big a goal threat.

Anyone who thinks Mirallas was the answer to our problems last night (which were nil in attack, BTW, just the rub of the green was lacking) doesn't know what the question was.

As ever, all IMO :)
wel leave it there so........

Yet he's possibly our most naturally skilled talented player. If you don't want players of his standard at Everton, yeah don't play him

To me, people getting stuck into Kev on here is an attempt to diminish the disappointment that will surely be felt should he leave in January

Notice how other players on our team are allowed to be a bit petulant (Lukaku) or selfish (Barkley and Deulofeu) and face no reprecussions for it, but Kev get's pounced on for doing so?

This is a player who still has a lot to offer us if he can just iron out his wrinkles with the manager

Again, that's a two way street

Those who truly believe he isn't any good have some serious short memories

Mikey, there are literally hundreds of posts on this forum where Lukaku was traduced six ways to Tuesday for his "petulance", his laziness, his inability to control a ball properly and the comments he is alleged to have made about wanting a "bigger" club.

Rom has had his detractors, don't worry about that.

But he shut them up the right way.

Thise other two lads are kids.....look how they have looked at themselves and matured into vital cogs in the machine this season.

Mirallas is a 28 year old grown man who gives off an air of being stuck in perpetual adolescence.

I don't want him sold in January but I won't lose any sleep if this moody squad player is moved on.

His style of play is totally at odds with what we witnessed on the field at Goodison last evening.

You don't want him sold but don't want him on the pitch. Make up your mind lad

I agree with you regarding Kev's role in the squad. However, I do think the head-down shoot-on-sight mentality might have been warranted in the final 10 last night. Out intricate play too often broke down at the last moment and we needed something more direct.

Naismith would have also been an option, but I thought we needed to go at them from both sides of the pitch if we were ever going to get the winner.

The problem I have with people saying "he's selfish, he would only look to shoot from distance" is that Kev CAN shoot from distance. He's scored some fantastic goals from distance. Palace were inviting us to shoot from distance last night. We were trying to walk the ball into the net. Theres nthng wrong with that, its just that it didnt work. I cant even count the number of times we were in the 18 yard box doing slick passing only to get the ball caught up in someone's feet.

Mirallas would stick out wide, run towards the middle and shoot. Often on target. We didnt have a ton of that yesterday. He's arrogant enough(in a good way) that it could have come off.

Kev would have NEVER tracked back once the ball turned over to Palace
He would have shrugged his shoulders and sulked and Bolasie and Puncheon would have stormed towards our box
Palace are genuinely one of the best counter-attacking teams in the league – Defensively Mirallas would have offered absolutely nothing.
Kone had an okay game. Maybe Naismith would have been a suitable sub. Not Mirallas though.
Hope to see him start vs Norwich.

Thats some revisionist history right here. There have been loads of times that Kev has ran down opponents. In derby's he's almost always the only one that looks like the match means something to them.

He also ran down opponents a minute after coming on vs Swansea. One thing he isn't is dependable.
