Kevin Thelwell - New Director of Football

Thelwell has proved to be totally inept as a DOF. From before the start of the transfer window, we obviously needed players urgently in two key posiyions - central midfield and striker.
He has delivered neither of these - what does he do all day?
Wonders what you think about his work through half a window?

I think you are looking for an argument when there doesn't need to be one.

Big Nosed Kev Thelwell is working wonders - doesn't mean we're winning a league title anytime soon.

Everton don't have FFP problems, they have P&S problems.

He’s got his nose to the ground looking for a striker!

I would question why we allowed Dobbin and Simms to go out on loan before we had strengthened our forward line?
They’re likely waiting for a certain player or players, with the belief that DCL would be fine alone until then. We took the risk and it failed unfortunately.

In terms of Dobbin and Simms, it’s likely the club have decided they simply weren’t ready, so the priority is to develop their game elsewhere.

Would they have made the difference yesterday? I’m not sure.

An enormous week coming up for this fella.

Media has fired the gun this morning.

Frank Lampard must find striker or Everton's season could make dangerous false start - https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/62452951
Interesting article who ever wrote it definitely on the ball as far as the Everton situation.
I like Frank and really want him to do well but was a bit concerned with his general body language as he didn't give me the impression that he was over confident about us buying a striker any time soon especially the mention of DCL not being out for to long.
As far as spending is concerned or even if we are allowed to spend surely we must unload some of the dead wood first.
Personally I would have sold DCL while his value was at its highest as I don't think we will be seeing any offers round the 60m mark again.

We haven't loaned anyone yet, would expect that end of window we would be more likely to nab someone that hasn't been getting the game time they expected early doors.

In case you hadn't noticed, the season has started.
Also, he's been here since February, but still seems to think signing a striker is not part of his job.
Where is he going to find a decent striker for the price of a bag of monster munch? Because that's all we have due to the running of this club over the last few years, which is on clown shoes Kenwright. Run like a pantomime, signing his favourite boy who's completely shot, despite us signing Klasssen and Iceland in the same position. Someone been playing football manager, and it isn't the new DOF at fault.

I've heard that he gets in at 9 , flicks through the Fit birds thread , has a packet of monster munch , a game of ping pong and knocks off at 11.30. What a life.

Simms would have been better than Gordon yesterday in my opinion.
I appreciate they probably expect to sign a forward player but we need to sign two unless we plan on relying on the waste of space that is Rondon.

Calvert-Lewin is only out for six weeks. While that's not great as it'll be around eight games he misses, it's not as if we're going to miss him for entire season.

Considering our finances, I suspect their thinking will be that DCL, Rondon and player-x will be enough options up front with support from the rest.

I think next year DCL will be moved on for a reasonable fee and that'll be used to reshape our front line - small steps and all that jazz.

That's if he doesn't get injured again...

Of course, but we've got to focus on the current injury rather than ifs and buts. Yes he's been injury prone as of late, but before then he was relatively reliable.

I believe Thelwell and Co. will be considering all the options, but I really don't see us getting two forwards in now - one in, with a main replacement when he's sold.
