That is what he wants though, Newcastle rejected him in the winter window because they won't pay those wages at the moment and West Ham have pulled out of negotiations with him because what they are offering falls way short of what he wants. He is looking for that final payday mate, not worth it for a near 30 year old who has shown very little over the years

He is applying the strategy that he should.

Short term, get players in for free that make us competitive. Tarkowski and Lingard are huge upgrades on the dross we currently have in those areas.

Lingard was brilliant at West Ham.

Then spend the money we have on younger players like KLP, Dennis (Patterson, Myko etc) that will have resale value and have a longer term impact.

Do you mean Lingard?

He has scored 20 league goals for United and 9 for West Ham, and made his PL debut in 2014. That's basically 29 in 8 seasons, so under 4 a year. I don't see that as a proven record.

His wages would be high as well. That's the point everyone is making.

Actually if you take minutes into account works out around 103 games that’s a goal every 3.5 games. Not fantastic but also gets odd assist I can think of a lot worse that we have signed obviously wages would have to be right for a deal to be seen as reasonable, but are we even interested or is it just paper talk is frank looking to change our formation? New ideas for starting the season level on points with everyone and not being in a relegation battle.
