The less we have to spend on transfers, the more that is going on the stadium. I assume there is a fixed payment schedule agreed with Laings and the consequences of missing a payment would be catastrophic obviously.

Moshiri either cannot or will not fund both the stadium and transfer spending from his own pockets any longer in addition to funding existing losses, and that's without taking PL restrictions into account.

It doesn't matter essentially what restrictions there are when USM money has dried up and there is £400m odd worth of stadium development to be paid for with no external funding in place so no longer-term structure against which those payments can be spread. As far as I understand, we agreed future costings but we have no commercial funding in place.

There is no game in town other than for Moshiri to find new investor(s) or sell up wholesale. It will be the same scenario next summer otherwise. Pickford will have to go then.

It's hardly Kevs fault how the clubs been run for the last 6 years and the fact we have zero money to spend is it. Nor is it lampards. Its the owner and the board who have overseen that.

So yes, it's easy and correct to blame the club.

It's his fault that in 6mth he has appointed his ex mate, promoted Baines (funny that wasn't a job for the boys with the clique), got rid of no one and apart from free agent Tarks, got no deal over the line

Put yourself in his shoes

You have very little to spend.
You have a bloated squad no one wants.
Your at a club which can't afford any mistakes in the transfer market.

Do you go less risky, on players you know inside out on and off the pitch.

Or do you take risks?

I do think we need to remind ourselves how much trouble we are in with regards to P&S regulations.
We have massively breached our allowance and the sale of Richarlison along with the wages saved by departure of a few players has barely brought us into line with the PL.
We will need to continue to reduce the scale of our outgoings to gain compliance with the continued agreement of the PL authorities.
It can’t be stressed enough how difficult a DoF’s job is at Everton currently and will continue to be for a while yet.

That’s not quite true ..

Because so many big wages have come off the books and because so many big signings were out of contract or have left, we have some wriggle room. But not a lot.

Signings are amortised over the length of their contracts whereas sales are immediately added to the books in one go.

I think our issue will not be buying rubbish again.
