In that same article:

This is in sharp contrast with all the media reports that his move to Everton is at pace. I’ve asked my contact at one of the top English papers based in Liverpool again, now.

Response: “I’m quite sure Mohammed Kudus to Everton will be over the line before long. Not long to go. Lampard badly needs a ball progressor and his options are very limited now. Kudus clearly is not happy and is excited to come. Unless Ajax stop him somehow, it’s a done deal”.

Even Myers was saying yesterday that, as far as he was aware, nothing had changed and a deal was advanced.

As I said yesterday, all very weird this.

Why ? Simms is miles off Premier league level.
That he may be Gudbud, but I am certain he is better than no striker at all. His presence would have also negated the need to play a front 3 in an unfamiliar role thus making them look, quite frankly, terrible. The entire balance of the team was shot to pieces.
It would have also given a fair insight as to whether he, in fact, is miles off being a Premier league player. Who knows?

I'm pretty sure him being registered to Everton meant we had the right to decide when he should be released for loan.

My main point is that, in my opinion, Everton did not give the team, the manager, or Simms himself, any chance to possibly benefit ourselves.
Indicative of how this club is largely run to be honest.

I think the honest truth is nobody really knows because it's been so long since he played in that system

I think it's a little telling they've pushed the "he can play in a back 4" in every interview to us, but we will not use it so far with him.
He played in a 4 in one of England's recent matches and he was terrible. Admittedly that's only one match. And premier league level is easier so maybe he could do it.

Not sure it's that weird to be honest. The new Ajax coach seems a bit of a balloon. He also said that Antony is not leaving when it's pretty clear he is. I suspect he's just making it clear that the sale of any players is not his doing.

If those report out of Holland over the weekend were based on the managers words then I'd agree. It was being reported before he spoke to the media though, as far as I'm aware.
