O i agree with that, but we also got Maupay, ok that hasnt worked but overall Kev has done well considering the mess that came before him.
Hopefully he will do things right this summer. We definitely need another striker. We fans just want the best for our club. Phew we stay up!

The DOF

The model is crap. Imagine trying to build a team with someone else saying here's your staff. Stupid

….it really doesn’t work like that. They should work closely with the manager to agree the ‘type’ of player that will improve the squad. The Manager can and should suggest the odd specific target but the DoF has knowledge of global market and controls the spend.

Remember Klopp not being convinced about Salah but went with the DoF suggestion.

I just don't understand buying him when we weren't going to play to his strengths, he's not and never has been a target man. He's gash though, we need to move him on.

I think the plan was to go 352 when you consider Coady plays largely in a back 3, Vinagre is a LWB and Thelwells fav formation is 3 at the back.

You would essentially have DCL & Maupay as a front 2 which would have worked with Dom the target man and Maupay feeding off the scraps.

DCL got crocked pre season & Lampard wanted to go 433 which scrapped the plans.

Did he also buy Garner? and McNeil ?
Being fair here, they all played a part. Everyone was very excited by Onana early doors. The latter two stepped up late on.

Maupay is the one that just did not work. My view it was a desperation signing. What we could afford on wages and fees. Also who would join / whose club would sell. Some will argue we could have got someone from the Championship with potential, but again, it may just have been down to who would join or was available. It could also have been a preference for someone 'who knows the league'.

Whatever, it didn't go well.

…..he left the club dreadfully exposed by not bringing in an effective striker when some of us highlighted DCLs fragility 18 months ago. He sent Simms on season long loan then had to bring him back in January but he failed to fill the void.

A complete an utter failure to reinforce a key position in the club should never be forgiven. He’s smarmy, I don’t for one minute trust him to fulfill the player requirements of a football club. He played high risk with our club, he has to go for his incompetence.
