Just like a manager sometimes they have too be given a few windows. Kev Thelwell needs at least two more before we can really judge him.

I’d agree with that…I just think that as a DoF regardless of the constraints faced, he hasn’t helped himself with Maupay, not just because he is poor, but he just wasn’t the right profile of player in terms of physical performance to do well in this type of team. Obviously whilst he addressed some parts of the team, the most pressing need has largely been left vacant, so he has brought a level of impatience and cynicism about his ability on himself. It’s great doing his 120 point plan and all, but if he wanted to get the fans inside he should have made some quick, easy moves to show that position was being sorted.

I guess for January, the players that chose other clubs, didn't do very well, so maybe we were better off with out them?

Possibly, but if we had done what we should have done last summer, we would not have purchased Maupay, and we could possibly have signed a better forward who fit the profile of player we needed. January become a necessity because we did not do what we should have done in the summer.

This is what happens when you have 2 seasons of relegation and a manager who plays hoofball, why would any player want to come and play for that?

There is going to come a time where we will have to appoint a more modern 'head coach' type, someone who players actually want to play for because they know their game is going develop and improve under that person. Someone who is aware of what is required tactically from players and teams in the modern game. We keep going down the old school manager road and guys like that are just being phased out of the game these days, The game has evolved and we need to evolve with it otherwise we WILL go down and we WILL stay down.

With a fit and full team we do not play hoofball. Have a look instead of taking the Daily Mirror's word for it.

What would be nice, is we had the absolute transparency required so we know who is accountable for what. If it does turn out that FM has been brining his own players in as gifts for managers, then the DoF needs to show some integrity and resign.

We added NOBODY for two reasons, one is we didnt need anybody, we had enough to stay up and that was proved beyond doubt last day of the season. The other reason is because NOBODY wanted to sign for is, that cant be blamed on Kev

It's a bit like the NFL Draft. Kiper can say whatever nonsense he wants on draft day, because nobody fact checks him five years later. The layups like Haaland happen because a club has perfect position to sign them.

For all others, it takes a little time to judge the quality of the decision making, and we only find out what the alternatives were if someone blabs. That usually only happens out of self-interest, to make someone else look worse by comparison.

…..they should be working closely to agree priorities and the ‘type’ of players they need. The Manager can suggest certain individuals, the DoF should have an awareness of the global market. The DoF is in charge of the spend envelope & should instigate negotiations, often the Manager will talk to players concerned to try and persuade them to come.

BK should be nowhere near discussions, I don’t think the single point of contact is between Chairmen.

Have concerns with Thewell role, Dyche is sounding like the all encompassing "football manager" not head coach that a Director of football would work under. Myself not sold on director of football, well not the way we appear to implement it.

No excuse...we need at the very least 2 attacking players signed and ready to go for day 1 of preseason. Anything else and he should be sacked. He has had the full season to work on a list of players, and the urgency was clear for everybody to see...he is a lucky man that we are still in the premier league.
