If his quotes in the media are to be believed it was Lampard who was strongly pushing for OnanaWe should’ve signed Garner and not bothered with Onana. He is not and was never what we need right now.

You would assume that was the case. But look at Brands and Walsh. The DOF should’ve overruled him then. He’s above the manager and is essentially head of recruitment. Lampard’s proven he doesn’t have a clue about anything, he didn’t even know what to do with Onana, he was playing him essentially up front.
FM probably told KT to think of Onana as a present to the managerYou would assume that was the case. But look at Brands and Walsh.
It's been dire management. We have no idea what this guys remit is and who he actually answers to.
As for Onana to answer others we can't have it both ways. We can't say go buy young talent that will make us some money, but then cry about it, when we do exactly that.
Now I am no fan of Onana, I do think we had other priorities. But the lad is gonna make a profit. Exactly what a ton on here were crying for us to do. If we sell, we have have say £45m to play with after sell on fees have been deducted. Yep we should have got a striker, but that deal, if and when we sell the lad, will give us.more wiggle room than we had. Plus who is to say the striker we brought In would be any good. If you don't have service, you ain't gonna score.
Plus when we made the deal, dcl was on one of his non crock days.
I still defend the Maupay signing (although it never worked out), in that he was bought to replace Richarlison as a second goal-scoring threat to play off the left wth DCL up front. It never worked out, but it was never going to be a target man which is where he has been asked to play.I dont think there will be anyway back now for him, but I would have liked to see him contibuting from the left side and DCL upfront….he nearly got us relegated with his gross negligence of not bringing in an effective striker in 2 windows. As you say, Maupay was a poor signing but let’s not forget we started last season with Gordon as a central striker. Maupay was not only a dreadful signing, he also came in way to late.
He doesn’t deserve any goodwill as far as I’m concerned, he’s very much one of those accountable for us nearly going down.

Don’t disagree, but he has been working with fresh air. And there not much value in that market.….the good folk of GOT identified DCL would have a career dogged by injury around 2 years ago. If Maupay was signed as a 2nd striker to DCL, it makes it worst that Thelwell is paid £m & thinks DCL will be robust enough to play regularly.
We started the season with Gordon as a central striker & finished it with Gray. Thelwell’s negligence is even worst if he brought in Maupay for Richarlison & thought DCL would be fit.
I think it’s got Kenwrights grubby hands all over the recent transfer windows thinking he’s a master tactician and best negotiator in the business.….the good folk of GOT identified DCL would have a career dogged by injury around 2 years ago. Every striker we were linked with January would have proved to be a flop. Spurs lad and ayew. Difficult to be successful

We had a striker in Jan ready to go until we sacked FL then he buggered off to Spurs was that it we only had 1 striker on the list to go for, we must have had the money for a loan , it was lucky it went the way it endedOr.
We couldn't afford to pay the loan fee and wages cause of ffp.
I honestly feel last seasons dealings had 1 aim. Bring the losses down.
Wouldn't be surprised to see it again this seaaon.
With the rolling 3 year thingy, we have this last season and the previous 2 seasons to take into account. I wouldn't be surprised if we are still hampered in our spending.
Most likely we will spend whatever we bring in, in sales this summer. I expect Onana and Grey maybe Simms and Dobbin if we can get buyers, to go and then we will spend close to that amount. If not less. Could even see us trying to make a profit this year to help for the following season.
The man is seriously hammpered in what he can do. Hopefully he has lined up some unknown bargain names.
