They are employees. They work for those who hired them.
A DoF is never in charge. He might like to think he is, but many have been fired.

The real skill of a owner is knowing that the club is not your play thing, and just because you watched players play doesn’t mean you have a good eye

We have no idea what he’s been told to do / allowed to do, or even how much involvement he’s had in the transfers we’ve seen since he joined. He may well be utter crap but until we’ve got some professionalism at the board level, we won’t know if people like him further down the chain are good, bad or indifferent. You can’t even judge him for staying because we don’t know his personal circumstances and there are very few people who leave a well paid job on principle.

I’m sick and tired of the mess this club has become. We’re so far off the mark at every level - commercial development, squad management, even the running of the catering at Goodison - which is why we’ve fallen so far. The lack of competent club management has hurt us far more than the lack of another striker.

Absolutely….the reality of it is that the only people we get to judge on how well they are doing in their performance is the manager and the players. There are too many warring factions at Everton producing misinformation and misdirection so we don’t really know how well he is doing. Yes Maupay was a rotter of a deal and that doesn’t reflect well on him but if he fails here that’s the third DoF to have failed. Eventually one has to look at the environment in which they are operating in. I am sure we have all had sh1t bosses who haven’t a clue what they are doing but keep interfering. Id be pretty sure that MSP will have an idea of how well he is doing and if they don’t, it won’t be long before they do (as long as they are competent)

Im not sure we have infrastructure or processes to turn these projects into world stars. We did nothing with deulafeu, lookman, or vlasic. We could even suggest Barkley failed to develop.

We made a profit on Onyekuru, Vlasic and Lookman, so they are arguably still success stories, even if they didn't step up while they were here.
