Some decent finishes from Cannon

I watched a couple of games of Cannon at preston last year, and a couple of games of Simms at Sunderland. Both scored goals, but I thought that Cannon just looked a much better all round player, so I'm happy to give him a go. I don't think there is room in the squad for both of them so selling Simms for decent money in his final year makes sense.

I'm actually quite excited to watch Cannon over pre-season. I could be very wrong, but I think he has enough to become a part of the squad, and a useful option at the very least.

….you can’t be impressed when he’s failed in the most critically obvious area. The man is incompetent, he almost relegated us last season.
That’s kind of what I said, the striker situation removes all good graces and I don’t know exactly what he did or didn’t do but our recent signings have been good signings and our defence and midfield have improved - the striker situation has just been pathetic

Yeah I mean I am pretty vocal about the whole DOF model at our club am 99% certain its not the right remit and he's essentially a line manager who just brings people in and absolves himself of responsibility, Moshiri makes the calls, he just gets to be the front man.

Last season was completely negligent from everyone at the club. This cannot happen again this summer.

I read that due to our accounts year ending 30/6/23 we were not in a position to spend any money due to FFP.
The new accounting year has started since 1/7/23 so it will be interesting to know whether he has been given a budget to obtain players Dyche has targetted - or whether we again have to sell to raise funds. I'm not sure how our DOF model works but doubt that it's Kev's decision on what players we go after. Surely it's the managers job to pick the targets and Kev's job to convince them to sign - but he then has had huge restrictions on these negotiations as we haven't seemingly had a pit to pose in.

….if we don’t bring in an effective striker then its a repeat of last season.

I definitely wouldn’t send Cannon on another loan until Dyche has been able to assess him pre-season. Whilst we know Simms isn’t good enough, Cannon is an unknown quantity.

Always said we still need better plans with the academy players. We tend to make last minute decisions (half season loans, late window ones) with them rather than stick them on a course.

To me Canon did well for half a season on loan. The next step would be to send him for a full season on loan at the same level. You'll get a better player.

What you don't do is go into pre-season with a "maybe he could be 3rd choice striker" when you need to buy at least 1 more and your attack is a mess.

Same goes for Branthwaite. What's the plan with him after he's had a successful loan? They probably don't know hence why he "could" be sold.

There isn't really much left to sell mate and Pickford/ Onana? They would have to be immediately replaced, especially Pickford.
FFP restrictions? Again I'm not having a go at you fella, but after the last 3 years, surely we can't be in the red in that period, because if we are we may as well fold, the squad right now is pathetic, what would be the point of continuing, if we can't strengthen.

We've got worse/less equipped for fighting relegation the past two transfer windows.

I felt the starting 11 that started last season was worse than the one before, and we sold Gordon in January without any replacement.

This summer we've since lost Simms, Mina, Coady... even Begovic, Townsend and Davies was a body. From all them I'd only have kept Begovic but we've got to get a wiggle on.

Wake up Kev, it's nearly midday and we've got signings to do.
