He could well be very poor at the role of DOF and I'm not convinced at all he should be in the role. But after the way the club has been ran, I am assuming that he is not being given the backing he needs in any case.

Always said we still need better plans with the academy players. We tend to make last minute decisions (half season loans, late window ones) with them rather than stick them on a course.
To me Canon did well for half a season on loan. The next step would be to send him for a full season on loan at the same level. You'll get a better player.
What you don't do is go into pre-season with a "maybe he could be 3rd choice striker" when you need to buy at least 1 more and your attack is a mess.
Same goes for Branthwaite. What's the plan with him after he's had a successful loan? They probably don't know hence why he "could" be sold.
…totally disagree.
You need to assess what you have in pre-season. Incomings will also impact outgoings. To arrange a loan for him at this stage would be folly. Also, going on loan isn’t La La Land, you can’t assume a loanee comes back a better player, it can easily have a negative impact.
Yes plenty of sense there but as Eggs says every player in the squad now will be getting assessed and two or three might go on loan but in the next couple of weeks they will all e needed for the preseason matches, while hopefully some incoming players will be brought in and quite a few will be needed to replenish an ever decreasing squad. You get better by playing games. If you've noticed our academy players don't get better sitting on the bench watching Neil Maupay running about.
Going on loan isn't "lala land" if you haven't planned it well which is the case I've made before. We've just sold/got rid of Simms, Small, Price, Samuels-Smith, all leaving for game time we didn't provide - Simms the only one with actual premier league minutes as we actively sent him on loan.
We're an awful outfit at the moment when it comes to first team avenues IMO cos it's never planned as we're a shambles behind the scenes.
Canon isn't a magic bullet people think he is either. They just throw his name in cos he had a decent half a season loan spell and is a bit nippy and is the next on the conveyor belt after Simms.
You can't plan pre-season like that IMO unless you're actively planning to give them game time. A year on the bench for Canon is useless.

Was never going to be a quick fix with him, but i feel same as you really on the fence with him last summer felt he left us short. And well the mess of the jan window, is not all down to him but he has played his part. Also the youth team still seems a mess but that is the part that will take time to fix. He will habe known before what he would have to work with, i just hooe the board let him get on with his work, this transfer window every fan will be looking at what he doesHe could well be very poor at the role of DOF and I'm not convinced at all he should be in the role. KT is well on his way scouring the country from tip to toe to unearth hidden talent. He is currently at Knutsford services enjoying a well earned pork pie and a glass of vimto
Sensational
Fair enough let’s see what happens, Dyche can’t be blamed for not taking a chance on untried players last season when he was gambling with relegation, his way was proved correct and kept us up. He will be facing the same situation from day one this season. And that's another issue...the squad is threadbare. 1 or 2 injuries from putting square pegs in round holes again.
So it's a commitment by the club IMO to say "these young lads have to play a part this season" or not.
We're not really a club that gives academy players minutes. So Tom Canon being back up 3rd striker is just wishful thinking when more than likely...Gray (if he's still here) would play.
Still feel he should have atleast put them on the bench when he had two gk, just never see the point of that.Fair enough let’s see what happens, Dyche can’t be blamed for not taking a chance on untried players last season when he was gambling with relegation, his way was proved correct and kept us up. His way proved correct by one goal and two saves in the last 30 mins of the season.Fair enough let’s see what happens, Dyche can’t be blamed for not taking a chance on untried players last season when he was gambling with relegation, his way was proved correct and kept us up. 3rd transfer windows for our Kev and he continues his trend of making the squad worse than what we started with.
