People were giving this guy way too much credit for the transfer window. His biggest single job was replacing Richarlison. That was a spectacular fail.
To replace Richarlison with like to like could have cost us most of the Richarlison fee. That could have left the midfield as it was but now we have Onana, Gana and Garner. Wise spend IMO. We did try to get Kudus on the cheap and he wanted to come. We did try and get Diaz but either couldn't afford him or refused to pay over the odds. DCL gets injured the week of the seasons start. I would expect some incoming in January depending on the state of play with the FFP nonsense

I'm really impressed with his work so far. I think he is obviously aware we are light in attack but that the focus was clearly on making us a tougher unit to break down first and go from there. Get the grafters in first and add the flair next. January will be interesting (assuming we have any spare money to spend).

I like what you're doing Kev, keep up the very good work.
If he can get us a goal scoring winger/forward in early January that would be just great.

Gutted the Kudus deal never materialized in the summer as he looks a great player with an eye for goal and would be perfect for Iwobis position against Palace at the weekend.
Unfortunately i think that ship has sailed now though.

….very encouraging that we were linked with Kudus, don’t think he was on anybody’s radar at that point. Let’s hope he has a few more like that lined up.

Indeed, it would. Yet, I am airing towards the view that it'll be in the summer where we do any major deals are done as the club are looking at stability etc.

You don't usually get value for money in the January window, so unless we're in trouble or the deal needs to be done then, I think they'll stick.

Like you said, it's a shame we didn't get Kudus as he looks a good talent and for what would have been a good price, but it's positive we're identifying talents.

Highly likely we will be cautious in Jan but we need to do something across the front 3 positions, everyone fit and on form then we ill be more than ok but loss of form and/or one or two injuries then we will struggle to score/create.

It's very possible that our January business, if any, will be dictated by whatever sales we can achieve. Keane or Kean being sold would help immensely.

I'd love to see another attacker come in - Viktor Tsygankov is approaching the end of his current deal - but the budget has to be controlled too.

Simply has to be Trossard with 6 months left on his contract come January.

Fancy Newcastle to bag him though sadly.

Yes agree mate, I think Mina or Keane and Rondon will go in January, that should free up some space to do some business.

Interesting post over on TPF by Ezy. I'm not not up with the numbers of late, but any chance Thelwell has done this well so quickly?

Not sure how accurate this is, but if true captain spreadsheets will be spinning. The drop in wages seems a lot

    - Our wage bill has dropped from £85 million a season in 21/22 to just £46 million this season.

    - Last 3 seasons (which coincides with FFP rolling period) transfer spending at £172 million with player sales at £98 million, meaning a net spend over 3 season of £74 million or £25 million a season.

    - Last 2 season transfer spending £105 million with player sales of £94 million and a net spend of £12 million or £6million net a season.

We've finally got the finances under control which was a mammoth job. Hopefully this allows Frank a lot of wriggle room in the markets.

Hopefully we never let ourselves get into a position like last season again. COYB.

Sounds like fantasy unfortunately. I expect the wage bill will be improved but not by nearly that much.
