Interesting post over on TPF by Ezy. I'm not not up with the numbers of late, but any chance Thelwell has done this well so quickly?

Not sure how accurate this is, but if true captain spreadsheets will be spinning. The drop in wages seems a lot

    - Our wage bill has dropped from £85 million a season in 21/22 to just £46 million this season.

    - Last 3 seasons (which coincides with FFP rolling period) transfer spending at £172 million with player sales at £98 million, meaning a net spend over 3 season of £74 million or £25 million a season.

    - Last 2 season transfer spending £105 million with player sales of £94 million and a net spend of £12 million or £6million net a season.

We've finally got the finances under control which was a mammoth job. Hopefully this allows Frank a lot of wriggle room in the markets.

Hopefully we never let ourselves get into a position like last season again. COYB.

Well these figures are exactly what is show on Transfermarkt which is a pretty darn unreliable website at times for transfer fees so depends if you believe that.

Be great if true, I have my doubts our wage bill 20/21 was £182 mill, so would mean we knocked a £100 mill of in one season.….

If there's any semblance of truth it that Thelwell should be Knighted.
Outstanding if true.

Mina
Keane
Kean
Doucoure
Rondon
Gbamin
Gomes
Dele
Doucoure

I think thats it to sell...
That would be ~£35 permanently off the books for players making no impact on the team and needs to be done.

Hopefully with the fixed Kean fee, sales of Keane, Gomes and Gbamin could get us £50m to spend on a good attacker or two.

I like the type of player we've been linked with in Kudus and Mudryk, so have a lot more confidence in Thelwell bringing in the right type of player.

Oops....i think he'll be off for £10-15mil.

Only a year left on his deal and i think we'll be raising funds for a top notch wide player.

I defo think we should and will retain mate, we have a year option.

Im a big fan of the Duke, NEA - many on here arent i know, but i dont understand that myself.

The lad himself may look to move away (though id be surprised), though to be very fair hes only back from injury.

I like Doucoure he can be very effective on his day, but we definitely didn't see that enough especially last season.

For a player that's now not a starter, probably behind Garner too, on his high wages I think we'll look to move on

The other side of that mate is after this year, he holds little or no ammortisation, so its a significant cost saved.

Id be very reluctant to loose him and i dont think its necessary with a one year option, i take your point on Garner, but hes a different player to say Gueye or Onana and thats who the Duke is covering, its either him or Tom, injuries and suspensions are inevitable, Idrissa and Onana are on three yellows at the mo, five being a suspension. Im not so sure he is bit part just yet, hes only back from injury and i beleive he had a personal issue the week before last.

For me we have bigger fish to fry, two full backs - either side, two inside forwards and a no 10, would be my priority in the upcoming windows.

The Duke is a hold for me.

To me Thelwell is more important than Lampard for the future of Everton FC, that’s no disrespect to Frank but he still has to prove his credentials as a manager, Thelwell has already changed the type of players we are bringing in while giving them sensible contracts, not the ridiculous ones of the last few years.
