lol lol lol

Our wage bill last accounts was 186m.

People are insane is they think we have reduced it by 140m.

Utterly insane.
In the last 18 months or so, we have got rid of:

Richarlison
Allan
Tosun
Digne
Delph
Kean
James
Bernard
The ghost who cannot be named
Bolasie
Plus Gbamin and Dele on loan.

All of whom were in our list of top earmers and were thought to be on £100k plus.

Thats over somewhere between £1-2m per week, which could be £50-100m per year in wages.

So yeah, maybe not quite as drastic as that, but shows how quickly it can go up or down by a considerable amount.

We’ve also brought in players who earn wages though. We may have reduced the wage bill, but absolutely no way it’s by £140m

I didntbsay it has gone down by as great a figure as the original, i was justvpointing out that losing that many high earners in a shortbamountvof time can have a massive impact.

Id be surprised if any of the new recruits were on anywhere near the same amounts as half of those.

Richarlison, Allan, Tosun, all of Digne, Delph, Kean and Gylfi - lost wages wont show up on the next set accounts - be next years.

We were also still paying amortisation for them all.

Just ran the numbers on net spend and return on transfer fees on players mentioned above we saved wages on.

198.63 mill spent on players mentioned in fees (not wages).

89.2 mill sold for in fees returned.

109 odd mill - shortfall.

Woeful.

*Its prob worse in honesty - no Walcott and one of two others.

Mykhaylo Mudryk is the one

"With all due respect, I will definitely not go to Brentford. It is a mid-table Premier League club that don't play European football, and for me the most important thing is to play in the Champions League. We thanked Brentford for the offer, but we withdrew from negotiations a long time ago"

:(

Interesting post over on TPF by Ezy. I'm not not up with the numbers of late, but any chance Thelwell has done this well so quickly?

Not sure how accurate this is, but if true captain spreadsheets will be spinning. The drop in wages seems a lot

    - Our wage bill has dropped from £85 million a season in 21/22 to just £46 million this season.

    - Last 3 seasons (which coincides with FFP rolling period) transfer spending at £172 million with player sales at £98 million, meaning a net spend over 3 season of £74 million or £25 million a season.

    - Last 2 season transfer spending £105 million with player sales of £94 million and a net spend of £12 million or £6million net a season.

We've finally got the finances under control which was a mammoth job. Hopefully this allows Frank a lot of wriggle room in the markets.

Hopefully we never let ourselves get into a position like last season again. COYB.
This isn't coming from an official source, so let's wait and see,but if its true its fantastic work from Kenwright and will make Thelwell job a lot easier

Simply has to be Trossard with 6 months left on his contract come January.

Fancy Newcastle to bag him though sadly.
At the risk of turning this into a Transfer thread, I'll say no to Trossard.

He'll turn 28 in December, he's never played European or CL football, he's oddly now playing BETTER without Maupay in the same lineup, and he's already in the Prem (so possibly on £50k per week already).

By comparison, Tsygankov is nearly four years younger and has already played multiple fixtures in the CL and EL, and caught the eye repeatedly. He better fits the "profile" we need to shift towards - we have to start finding the up-and-coming players whilst they're still overseas, affordable on our budget and young enough that they don't lose us money even if they fail to impress over a two or three year period.

I suspect, looking at the arrivals of Garner, Onana and to some extent Maupay, that Thelwell will lean towards younger players when he can. It was a little different when fixing the centre of defence because we desperately needed leadership and composure there, and when you're on a tight budget you have to make some compromises.

I think different positions might have different age profiles (would make sense to me anyway) - but even if it was breaking the age structure, 2 CDFs who fit the character profiles for a loan fee, a sign on fee and 4.5m would have been too good of an opportunity to miss, and I have a feeling they didn't rinse us on wages either.

FInd it very promising that two targets we had concrete interest in (Mudryk and Kudus) have both gone on to impress in the Champions League.

Although they might now be out of our reach it's good to see he has an eye for players like that. Onana being one that we got over the line. Kudus looks the part and Mudryk looks like the fastest kid alive.

Imagine the guys 'under the radar' we will be looking at for next summer!!!

Spot on.
Either we can get them within our price bracket, or we move on.
As you said, he may be identifying these players, so hopefully the next one is in the cross hairs.
