No that's because modern day forwards don't want to chase aimless balls up top all afternoon in a setup that is not geared to getting the best out of a forward. We have tried all summer from Gyorkeres, Dembele, Rodrygo, Boniface, Brobbey, EBT, Ekitike, Adams and none want to come here. We are not an attractive position at the moment and that's just how it is and If I was a player I wouldn't go anywhere near us as we are just toxic atm.
Mate, we were not in for any of them bolded.

I believe we may have made enquiries for Ekitike and Dembele

We were probably close to agreeing something with Rodryogo before Saudi came alone, as with EBT

EDIT: Thought you meant Akor Adams, not Che Adams, who is that irrelevant i forgot we were in for him

Tbf i think a lot of people questioning him are taking that into consideration aswell and mentioning it.
We can't force players to sign for us though and we can't force clubs to accept our paltry bids, people need to understand that though. I do wonder if we are still approaching negotiations with a view that anyone coming in is "backup" to Dom. Any player with any hint of career ambition is going to look at that situation and just laugh and go no thanks imo.

Again. Its all noted.
But 18 months is still to long to get 1 decent enough presence up front. The football worlds a big place.

No, I can just see the bigger picture that's all, never said I rated the bloke.

….weird how players like Onana agreed to join us. Garner agreed to join us. Chermiti agreed to join us, Gana left PSG to rejoin this basket case of a club & even Maupay agreed to join us. Yet the excuse is that on the planet there’s not a single effective striker willing to join us in 3 windows.

I really need to see this bigger picture.

It is and our scouting needs to be much better but we could bring in a great striker and there is no guarantee that person hits the ground running and turns the team positive all of a sudden, certainly not when we still insist on an open midfield and playing Keane at the back.

No guarentee of anything. Other than iwobi being a flake.
But as we saw at Brighton with calvert lewin. We just needed soneone with movement and pulling defenders out of place. Dont have to be world class.
It hasnt been addressed for nearly two years.
Tired of the excuses.

Specsavers will be open

Don't get why the MSP deal changes anything for Kev. That was money intended for the stadium. Maybe he's not had as much this summer, or maybe the installment deals he agreed to last year have eaten into his budget.

He's had money to spend on Maupay, McNeil, Onana, and Chermiti.

We all knew there wasn't a lot to spend. Has he spent is wisely is the question for me.

It shouldn't. You work under the assume you're skint and if you then get given more money, great.

Given the limits and context mate, we cant expect reasonably more.

Expectations don't meet the reality of our situation to be honest.
You said earlier in the window that Thelwell would have failed if he didn't get a striker in before the end of the window. I'm pretty sure you didn't mean a young prospect, so I'm going to remind you of that on the 2nd September and you're still sticking up for Thelwell should we not sign a forward. He's had three windows now to address this issue.

I find these arguments silly to be honest, the DOF hasn’t signed a striker..…we’ve signed two in 12 months….we don’t count those because we don’t like them….well ok!

We signed, Chemiti - but being generous and respecting your working very hard here for a smoking gun ,I’ll take your point. I’ve said it elsewhere I expected two wingers and a centre forward this summer, we got that and have exceeded what I thought we’d do. Anything beyond is a bonus in my view.

Though in full awareness you are creatively using my point and framing/ignoring Chemeti in a certain way. I’d agree if we don’t sign another senior striker, I’ll be disappointed, partly because we are trying. Presuming Chemiti isn’t more then we all presume. If we don’t I’d question Kevs use of resources and distribution on Chemiti more then anything.

But away from the binary premise, I’d prefer not to buy another senior striker then repeat Maupay. I think it’s prob as important to say no as a DOF as yes. ;)

Im not sticking up for him either per say, I said it would take three years to incrementally improve the team, if you are going to employ someone id give them a Lee way of trust, I like much of what he’s done as I see some logic, obviously there are things in hindsight you’d cirtiuqe. Overall I find much if the analysis of him in the popular narrative on here, unfair, given limits and context. It’s just lads venting because the club is a skip fire and he’s a cat to kick. It was already well F’d when arrived. Do overall I guess I have some admiration and sympathy for the adversity he’s trying to work in and a lot of what he’s done is positive, the majority to be honest.
