The hearing would have been on his mind and would have been a major consideration in previous windows .

I was just pointing out that he has been working with major restrictions since day one and him recruiting players that will increase in value is a huge part of him being able to do the job long term and if he does ever lose his job he may actually have a chance of getting another
Yep that should be part of his job role and description and I am sure it is so I generaIly agree with what you are saying but we are currently in a tight situation (survival mode) which needs to be managed as well. I tend to defend him in the absence of any meaningful direct evidence that he is under performing (he may be but who honestly knows for a fact) and I agree he looks to be doing his job with one or both hands tied behind his back.

Detractors of his have pointed out him signing Chermiti as opposed to directing funds to a player more capable of first team action and I do have some sympathy with this view in the current circumstances where it seems funds were incredibly tight if not none existent) but who knows, it may turn out Chermiti plays a more significant part this season than what we currently expect. What I do know is whether Iwobi was rated or not, our midfield is weaker today than yesterday (even if only for having less options)

1. Good financial decision re iwobi
2. Good financial decision not letting Leeds shaft us for gnonto
3. Strengthened up top end which was badly needed
4. Half fixed his maupay mistake

Would I have liked one or two more signings? Sure, but I think we will be fine once mcneil, Harrison and Dom are all fit( I know, waiting on injuries but most teams outside the top teams have to do that

I'm happy with Thelwell so far,
He and Dyche just might just be the adults in the room that we need

Let's enjoy these times as best we can coz we're winning the league in 7 years 😆
I think the reality is we will not be able to properly judge this window (or any window) until we see the results of games. I guess there are two schools of thought….1) with the players we have bought we will be ok, so people are relatively happy with the window given the apparent constraints or 2) There are doubts we will be ok, and we may look at this window as being a lost opportunity to bring players in that may have made a difference (I probably sit in this camp but a win today and against Luton and I may change to 1).

I get the principle of him having to manage P&S, and clearing dead wood and it’s associated cost….I am referring more to say paying the extra for Gnonto in a bid to ensure we stay safe if relegation. Whilst it should be a general rule of thumb we do not pay over the odds (because yes we have shown this does not work)….if Gnonto is good enough and has the required quality to bring a little more attacking flair and creativity into the side, an extra £5m may have been wise given we are at risk of losing £100m+ if relegated going into the season where we will start in the new stadium. I just think it’s a massive risk….the next three or four games are really pivotal.

There is a third. I know cos I’m in it which is doubts about our squad now but recognise that the window was not a lost opportunity but navigation through a really difficult position. We did as well as we could within the constraints placed on us after years of mis management.

Do you think we will be ok this season?

I think we are in the bottom group. Our squad is weak and thin. We need a hero.

i think the good news is that the bottom group is truly terrible so we have a chance. Luton, Sheff U, Everton, Burnley, Wolves …. the next group up might have a slip down too.
We've already lost to one of them. Lose to another today and the writing on the wall is staring us in the face.

I know it’s early in the season, but i have to agree with this…it’s a six pointer already. Our only performance away from home this season was a shocker (admittedly again far better team than Sheff Utd)….if we get beat today, as it stands I really can’t see how we get out of the bottom three unless a significant and expected upturn in form takes place.

There's also the panic spiral to factor in. Sure, it's very early in the season and plenty of matches to play, but Dyche is already under pressure (the mismanagement of the Chairman, mysteriously, appears to get something of a pass) and the knives will be out soon. And would you back these players to knuckle down or throw yet another manager under another oncoming double-decker?

Panic, confidence and potential longer term injuries which inevitably all clubs pick up. Currently we have had the same results this year as the corresponding fixtures last year, and if we look at the first three games points haul last year to this year, we are only 1 point off, so still all to play for, but we desperately need a win today, imo because a point won’t cut the mustard.

he has two loans in January which is no bad thing. We will need no injuries and strengthen short term in January
There is no money...by the time January comes, we will be told that we have to sell to buy or loan...we are at the hand of a despot that has no sense of accountability and doesn't give a dam about the fans. We need change but without strategy and coordination from the entire fanbase, this will continue until he gets tired, gets his money plus profit back or get relegated.

Thelwell reminds FB92 a lot of himself on this forum. Unappreciated, underrated, same kind of haters who refuse to give either any credit - A convenient scapegoat for the circus clowns around them if you will.

I agree with your stance on that we no longer seem to want to panic buy - I imagine we offered £25m for Gnonto and walked away when the price got silly. Long term I would like to see us pay whats needed to get a top talent in the door... but with the stadium build and FFP issues I understand why at present time its not feasible in doing so.
Certainly not me!

You can call me FB8.. cause you complete me FB92!!! 🤪
