2024/25 Kevin Thelwell

Fun fact, I used to have Ray Wilkins curtains at home.

For me, i wont say anything bad against Thelwell due to all the interference.

He didnt pick the manager nor a number of our players -- as weve seen 'leaked'.

Need to see him with some money to spend (not signing players on tick).

…..fun fact, I once played against Ray Wilkins at Anfield. We also share exactly the same DoB.

Don’t suppose you have my curtains too?

Roma's scouts have not done a great job this year bearing in mind where they are in the table. Saying that i am all for replacing thelwell asap...problem is that if you replace him now, that will be another excuse not to spend in January. We need to spend big in the coming weeks and find ways around psr, same as chelsea did

“We need to spend big in the coming weeks and find ways around psr, same as chelsea did”
I would split that sentence between 2 parties. The “ big spend” decisions should be made by our Executive Chairman/ New CEO. Thelwell’s major area of success has been navigating PSR as best we could with deals like Beto and Chermiti where we deferred payments and the deals for Iroegbunam and Dobbin with Villa, he knows his way around PSR

To hear him tell it, he was in for every player that's turned out to be good business over the last two years, so I'm sure he's been sitting on an extensive list of tomorrow's superstar managers that the now-previous circumstances didn't allow him to utilise.

Well we don`t own any hotels so how much will we get for the women`s team?
We do own goodison, so not sure how much we could get out of it. In any case, they have very clever people working for them and are very good on finding innovative solutions to financial challenges.

Thank God his contract is over in the summer. Us, Spurs and United must have had the worst Directors of Football going. Might as well give that Ashworth fella a go next.

The biggest problem we have with the DoF role is the alignment with the manager.
Walsh didn’t align with Koeman
Brands didn’t align with Benitez or Ancelotti
Thelwell doesn’t align with Dyche.

The only time it has happened was a brief spell of Brands with Silva, and even that was undermined by boardroom interference.

I’m not sure if mid season is the time to do it, but we need a new DoF and he needs to be having a significant input as to who the manager is.
