Makes me want to vomit the volume of players we have purchased clearly we needed to have a longer term plan.

We are never going to break the top 6 spending money alone look at spurs tried for Willian Chelsea just come & take him same with Liverpool with Sanchez any player who can make the difference is likely to join a club above us.

Youth with smart purchases was always the way forward.
This - all day long!

And this is exactly the reason he was sent on loan. Really looking forward to him next season.
He should have either gone on loan last season or got some first team appearances. This loan was Koeman kicking him into the long grass as he did with young players at Southampton. Thankfully he's gone, Dowell is getting valuable game time and hopefully Unsworth is going to do a good job and get managers job permanently.

How many times has it been pointed out to you that Barcelona had a buyback clause (an agreement made a year before Koeman was hired), and that without said clause we never could have purchased him in the first place? 50+, surely.

Criticizing Koeman is shooting fish in a barrel at this point... I don't see why you need to keep inventing things

Dowell might have been ready for us this year, and he might not have.

The second division is, after all, by definition a lower standard of play.

I'm not going to second guess our every loan move each time a goal shows up on Twitter because unlike the people who made the decision, I haven't watched all his prior training sessions and last year's entire youth season - and I'm guessing you haven't either.
Koeman didnt show any inclination he wanted him and Barcleona took their cue from that.

Agree, defo should have been loaned out last season. Not sure if he was listed for loan or not, but Dowell had just put in a superb MOTM display v Norwich in that 3-0 win in the last game of 2015/16 so surely there would have been a Championship club last season that would have been interested. It feels like we may have missed a trick, and a year in Dowell's development, by dropping him back to the U-23's last season.

Anyways, he is still with us, and it's exciting to think of how we might line up next season.... as long as these kids get a fair crack at the first team.

I think Koeman could have gone through a full on adoption programme, but Barca could still have pulled the lad back.

Plenty of stuff to boot Koeman with, Barca wanting the player wasnt down to him.

Soz, missed the thread title.
