I don't get why people think he's one of the best in the world. He's decent but not done it on any type of big stage yet. Put him in front of a passionate support in the premier league where your every touch is judged by your own fans. If he can still do it then, then fair enough. But few decent seasons in that average league up north and playing in front of 25k for Southampton doesn't wash with me.

I have no idea if the story about a move to Forest will happen but it would/could be a great move for Dowell.

How much game time is he going to get in the first team this season ? He will be competing with Rooney, Sigurdsson and others and quite honestly any poster who does not have an agenda and who has watched our youth football in recent years I think may agree when I say that so far he hasn't shown enough to be certain of getting games ahead of these. @catcherintherye


Dowell has not been on loan yet and that just may have been a mistake, but a season playing first team football week after week may be the making of him.
I think another season with the under 23s may be just a waste.

I disagree. I think he's better off training every day with the guys he needs to beat out. The time for a loan for him has passed. Just my opinion.

I'm not so sure.

Sure he's a decent talent who could kick on but that's all he is at the minute. He needs to play competitive games.
