Think we are all guilty of thinking these players should be the finished article by the time they are 18/19. The likes of Beckham was loaned out when he was 20, wasnt a regular till he was 21/22. Lets be patient, we have got a great crop of young players coming through.

He's 100x better than Osman was at 19 though mate.

You didnt watch Osman at 19, so how would you know?

The lads 19, he gone AWOL in every game ive watched him in, from what ive seen he wont make it, happy to admit that he can improve, a loan would help with that, he needs to play, hes not good enough for OUR first team yet.

Because I saw Osman at 24 and I know he wasn't better at 19.

But to your point, is it better to play down the league or train every day with Premier League players and fight for your place? It's a legitimate question.

A season out on loan like that did Barkley no favours, it'd do even less for a player like Dowell. He's about three moves ahead of those Championship players. He'll end up with the ball at his feet looking to pick a pass with no runners ahead and getting belted from the side or behind and have his leg in bits.
Apart from his Bily-like thunder bolts I'm not sure how he is worthy of such praise mate?

I have no idea if the story about a move to Forest will happen but it would/could be a great move for Dowell.

How much game time is he going to get in the first team this season ? He will be competing with Rooney, Sigurdsson and others and quite honestly any poster who does not have an agenda and who has watched our youth football in recent years I think may agree when I say that so far he hasn't shown enough to be certain of getting games ahead of these. @catcherintherye

Dowell has not been on loan yet and that just may have been a mistake, but a season playing first team football week after week may be the making of him.
I think another season with the under 23s may be just a waste.

I can't really work Dowell out mate. He seems to play ok but was dropped after the Genk game. Hard to know what Koeman is thinking.

I'm balanced on Dowell. While loads will often work wondered for young players I'm not sure the championship would benefit him that much. I'd rather he went the Davies route, training with the first team squad, improving as a result and hopefully getting a chance.

I think he needs to play every week at a level higher than U23s.

I see multiple players ahead of him after the window closes.

I think if he'd gone out on loan last year he may have been nearer to being ready. Hindsight is wonderful but useless. Him being a left footer would give us balance as all the other options apart from Bolasie are right footed. 6 months out on loan to a team that will give him minutes could mean he comes back ready to compete for a place later in the season.
