2017/18 Kieran Dowell

He had already responded to a post about Davies mate

maybe it was a mistake though, he already did one a few seconds earlier about Holgate being given his debut before Koeman, and about Dowell or Davies (whoever he meant) having played in a Under 23 tournament he never featured in

It's all over the place now. Let me cut through the Gordian knot and get it back on track: Dowell HAD to be retained this summer and hasn't been. He now joins Williams, Pennington, Browning, Galloway on loan. What are the chances of Kenny and Connolly joining them? High I'd suggest.

OK Dave, will give you a pass on that then, can you give us the link for Dowells performances in the Under 23 tournament he was blooded in for his country then thanks?
What will your reaction be if Kenny - who you've been championing - is sacrificed for Martina?

Very concerned as Kenny is by a way the most advanced of the players who haven't broken through yet, has looked on a level above Dowell on his development for at least the last season and has all the attributes needed to adapt to the system and the league.

He also is playing in a position which we are absolutely bare bones in unlike Dowell due to Colemans injury.

If Coleman is fit I would like Kenny to go on loan as then Martina can become 2nd choice. Kenny is the youngster I would have started with but it's not to be. Dowell is a strange one as I kind of agree that he may be wasted if other players aren't on his wave length. On the other hand 10 games all season here would be more of a set back and he's too good for U23 football. If we had loaned him to Premier League team a Galloway type situation was the danger so I suppose it has to be a team like Forest.

I love Kenny but thought he was pretty poor pre-season so maybe Koeman doesn't trust him with a start yet especially in a very important game like these EL qualifiers.

Rooney and Sigurdsson in terms of creativity, that is the only competition Dowell faced. Rooney is held together by spit and chewing gum these days and almost certain to be sitting lots of games out; Sigurdsson, if he comes, picks up an injury - what then?

Kenny: already third choice RB. Coleman comes back for Christmas he'll be punted to the Championship.

...still competitive...

It's a good move Dave.

He needs game time.

I was hopeful that Koeman would give him it but clearly he doesn't think he's ready quite yet.

And tbh, it's hard to disagree if we're looking for a player that will consistently put in the work for 90 mins week-in-week out.

He needs experience of a team where he has to be involved all the time. He can't go missing in games and then come up with a worldy like in the U23s and expect that to be enough.

Hopefully he really kicks on at Forrest. He has the talent.

10 games here is worth 100 in the Chumpionship (not a spelling error).

I could care less what he thinks, tbf.

So far we have loaned out players who really should have been for different reasons.

Pennington and Browning both served nothing by playing in the under 23s due to their ages really, and not good enough to play for us in reality, it's a commercial aspect to loaning to raise their prices for a future sale almost certainly.

Galloway - busted flush last season on loan and fell pout of favour hugely during the second half of two seasons ago (for whatever reason), so yeah he needs to get games - again not apparently good enough for us atm - and wasn't deemed good enough for a west brom team which is worrying.

Williams and Dowell - both need serious amounts of competitive games this season as they kind of will stagnate in the under 23s and are a way off being able to get those games in those numbers for us, they do well on the loans then we can have the conversation next season about are they ready and if they aren't used.

Connolly and Kenny - dunno mate, will see i guess

I'm holding fire on Kenny atm, he had a long summer and may just need a bit more time to recover at his age, first month of the season will show us everything i guess.

How many current Everton players who will start or make the bench this season are consistent in offering good quality? Gueye, Schneiderlin....erm....help me out....

It's utter nonsense to claim this is a decision based on finding consistency when the whole team barring those two named cant string two or three good games together.

...it's as much consistency within a game as from match to match. I suspect it might be a learning process for him.
