We wont see Dowell established in the first team under Koeman. He's about to spend £50M on a player he wont consider dropping as long as he's manager.

It's a tragedy for the lad, but he'll have to hope another PL club comes in for him. And it's a dark day for us if that happens. Another quality player thrown on the bonfire.
Yeah mate, because you know better than a scouting and coaching team from having seen him play in 2 pre-season friendlies and a handful of games.

Top stuff.

What absolute tripe. If the lad shines in the Championship then he'll get his chance next season here as a 20 year old ffs. If he doesn't then he won't.

That's a fantastic move for him, exactly what's needed. Gives him the ability to prove his strength for the English game in a tough league and come back as a first team squad option if he's a success.

Not every young player develops the same way, and with Dowell's build particularly I think allowing him to grow into his game gradually rather than plunging him into the Premier League is the right call.

He's going safe playing big money signings and arl arses.

FFS if he hands a new contract to Barry I think I'll explode.

Me too. I would let him go to West Brom he still has something to offer but slows team down too much.

Coleman and Bolasie injuries have probably cost Kenny and Dowell. They would have been ideal as back ups but not quite ready to be regulars.

A shame for the lad I think.
Some loans I can understand, but not this one.
Whenever I've seen him he's always given me the impression that he has that much needed touch of class.
Personally I think he'd be better with the first team squad.
Koeman sees more of him and knows more about footy than I'll ever know but for me he has the potential to be top drawer and I think he needs to be around premiership standard players.

Not really the case though mate is it, Dowell is 19 - name one team above us that he would be playing for in any serious game, answer is none, as they all have good academy lads who are not getting a look in, and the ones that do - like it or not tend to have a very very good worth ethic attached to the ability.

IF he goes and has a great loan year with Forest then next summer it becomes a bit more of a valid argument, although the case could easily be made that he would be in a situation of becoming a fringe player due to players ahead of him - then the situation of would a loan to a team in the bottom half of the league like a Bournemouth etc be a next best way of developing him more.

the year after that he'd still just be 21, with possible a good championship and premier league season under his belt, and most people deem Koeman unlikely to be here for a 4th season anyway.

IF as you believe Koeman won't ever play the lad, then us loaning him out right now for the year is absolutely 100% the best way for the lad to have a chance to have a Career with us, because otherwise you believe he'd sit rotting in the under 23s for effectively 2 years which would wreck his long term development.
