Koeman: "Barkley looking for a new challenge"

Mate, he was offered a deal.

All Koeman has actually said is he rejected our offer and wants a new challenge.

There was no vitriol. It's just stating fact.

As @GrandOldTeam says, this is on Ross. It's his call, which he has every right to make.

We're a club hugely on the up. We play good, winning football again (despite a blip last winter) and have done everything realistically possible to show our intent so far.

I know you don't like Koeman, but Ross hasn't been forced out. The deal on the table was a good one. A very good one. I'm confident in that information. If the player doesn't want to be here, then like Lukaku, we'll take the money thank you very much.

Ross, as good as he was at points and could still be, hasn't brought us any success. Just like Lukaku, or Stones, or Del.

Good players, but didn't - for whatever reasons - want to be here. Sound, in a bit then.

I haven't mentioned the comments as being vitriolic Toff, so not sure where you've picked that up from. The reasons for not wanting to be here have yet to be fully confirmed. I hope they will be.

Read what I said again. I'm talking about people saying he's greedy or has done something underhand, turning down a contract is not necessarily either of those things.

I've got mates who would turn down a free ticket for their boyhood club nevermind a contract that would tie them to a job they might not be enjoying and may mean they lose out on huge sums of money.

I think letting your contract go into it's last year has been a bad move for all concerned if I'm honest.

If it was so terrible playing for Everton, why didn't he put a transfer request in after two seasons when soft hole was still managing?

FWIW if it was upto me I would do as follows.

  1. Say he can go to any of the teams above us excluding Liverpool for £35m.
  2. Go to any of the teams below us for £25m.
  3. Play in the reserves for a season then choose who he wants to go to.

I'm less arsed than I thought I would be. Great potential but the lack of anyone breaking down the doors to take him kinda indicates that he's not going to anywhere near as good as my blue-tinted specs thought he might be

Boyhood blue not wanting to play for Everton while we're seemingly on the up? Sorry Ross, daft decision

I hoped he'd stay but we move on.

I just meant as in Koeman kind of just confirmed what seems to have been the case all along.

He didn't 'blame' Ross as such, and actually said that Ross told him at the end of last season as well and he respects that.

I don't think we can ever be fully clear because at the end of the day the only person who made the decision was Ross. Unless we're in his head, then it'd be difficult.

But what we do know is:

- Contract offered
- Contract rejected
- Ross says he wants a new challenge

We'll likely never know more than that.

An article on the SSN app today interviewing Levy from Spurs
He said they won't spend big money and will only buy someone who improves the team and they would prefer to use players from the academy.
So they won't pay big money for ROSS
Anything less than 30 m and we shoumd take the hit and put him in the reserves for the final year

That's what I mean by looking less likely.

If he's after a bigger challenge...he is unlikely to get one.

If he just wants out of Everton, he won't be missed too much. Another one to add to the pile of players who showed a lot of promise but failed to live up to it for one reason or another.
