Koeman: "Barkley looking for a new challenge"

This kid should NEVER be remembered fondly at GP.

Rooney was castigated by Evertonians for choosing Utd, the trophies, the money etc but the fact that the money we recouped from his transfer helped save us financially was massively underplayed.

He's been offered a fantastic contract by all accounts & we are clearly a club moving in the right direction yet he wants no part of it.

Ross Barkley is dead to me, the ****ed up fool.

Can we stop it with the deliberate avoiding the bad language filter ?
Thank you.

Mixed feelings on this but on the whole, can't say I am too bothered. One of, if not the most talented young players to come through at Everton since Rooney, but he just hasn't pushed on how we'd have expected and he has himself to blame for it. He's given us some good moments, and there is a lot of talent there. If he can find a club that is performing well and plays him in a way that he can excel then I think he could go on to have a good career for them. Someone like Arsenal for example.

But I also think he has been badly advised, has a weak mentality in many ways and all of the above I mentioned about what he 'could' do is very unlikely to happen in reality. I don't see him being an automatic starter at a club like Arsenal or Spurs and that is where his mentality will be tested. If he isn't starting games, I think that will affect him negatively and will put him in a downward spiral. One that could end up seeing him far worse off than he is now. Going from a regular for his boyhood team, to some bottom half team of hard workers like Stoke or Burnley at best.

Meanwhile the club he claimed to support will most likely be a regular top 7 side at worst, potentially challenging for a CL place (maybe better), playing in a new 60,000 seater Stadium. Why he wouldn't battle for that is beyond me, but I just think it shows why he hasn't become the player we hoped, he doesn't have the fight.

Buzzing with this, we will be all the better for him not slowing our play down anymore. What city he was born in doesn't interest me in the slightest, I just want to see Everton winning.

I don't think it's a question of Koeman not getting along with Ross. Koeman is a tough taskmaster who doesn't give out prise easily, expects you to play at your best, give 100% and always look to improve. Ross wants arm around the shoulder best mate manger routine because he's a pathetic manchild who can't cope with criticism and is upset that a couple of people shouted nasty things to him at the match. He's a born loser and a coward. Ross might go on to have a very successful career at a high level (i doubt it) but it will never happen at a side were he has to work hard all the time and face challenges, the best he'll manage with a side like that is the squad, which might suit him because as I said he's a coward not up for the fight. More then likely he'll be at a Newcastle or somebody equally rubbish in a couple of years from now and he'll only have himself to blame for it.

well if He Does not get on with Koeman then let him go get what we can for him and buy players who want to play for Everton

Rooney from what I have seen looks a better more consistent player all round imho.

Sobering thought for Ross eh ?

Former Manchester Football Club Legend Wayne Rooney will do well and will contribute in his time here. absolutely.

I however would prefer not to have to watch him play for us. Just my own preference, nothing more

Very sad to see him go but sometimes you and a new boss just don't see eye to eye, even if both of you are trying to make it work, and guess Ross isn't prepared to wait Koeman out. Wish him luck as he is definitely taking the more difficult path than staying.

We've now lost the four young players that made Martinez's first season so fun to watch, hope that Koeman continues to integrate a new crop into the team as replacements.

This really. We have lost Stones, Deulofeu, Lukaku and now Barkley.

What the club (I think) needs now is the new wave of 6+ kids to come through and give us some (mostly) local excitement.

The exciting play of Lookman, the classy play of Dowell, the growth of DCL, the emergence of Connolly and Kenny and hopefully the tenacity of Davies and Walsh.

This is the way we compete with he big spenders, grow our own.

I didn't realise seeing how warm you could get the bench at the top 6 was a challenge... is this a new fad like planking ?

Barkley's deluding himself if he thinks he'll get a challenge elsewhere, only Tottenham seemed interested and he's not better than Alli or Eriksen so he'd be an impact sub at best for when they're tired/injured and he probably thinks he's too good for any of the 13 other teams below us so where's he going to get this new challenge ?

Sure he's talented and on his day he's unbeatable but he lacks consistency to do this on a weekly basis which is why I'm not bothered if he goes, calls himself a true blue yet wants to leave during the most exciting time in our history since the 80's, let him go warm benches if he wants out

Spurs have a very strict wage structure, and the salary Barkley is demanding would put him above the likes of Alli, so I just can't see them shelling out that kind of money for a player that isn't guaranteed a 1st team spot. I think we're the best Ross will get in his career, he just doesn't seem to realise that.

His choice, he's wrong, but it's his choice. If he thinks he'll get an easier ride at another club he's in for a shock. See ya Ross :bye:

Now all hail our Icelandic No.8 ;)

@tommye you promised!

gutted here. absolutely gutted.

not a big fan of Koemans reign so far I have to say

I'll be waiting on info from the other side of the argument though before taking the managers comments as being the whole story
I never 'promised' I passed on what I was told. The contract offered was still on the table at 100k pw. Ross, supposedly, was waiting to see what other signings were to be paid and he wanted parity. Since told no further offer will be forthcoming. So he wants to leave.
