Koeman: "Barkley looking for a new challenge"

Just let him go and get someonein who can show they're true form consistently throughout the season. As much as I like Barkley he isn't irreplaceable so let him do what he wants to do. I would do a straight swap with arsenal for giroud because we get the best out of that deal

Idiot. Poorly advised. His options are rot on top six side bench, or go a team worse than us to be top dog and never sniff CL. Challenge? He's in for a very steep one.

Even if the issue is Koeman, we all know from our own jobs it is possible to work with people you don't see eye to eye with, if your well remunerated, and have an attachment to the company.

Koeman Won't be here forever. Silly silly boy.

Maybe some if us owe Roy Hodgson an apology, for seeing what was blindingly obvious.
Alternatively Hodgson was the cause!
I honestly don't know, but I can't help being saddened by the whole saga.

I think letting your contract go into it's last year has been a bad move for all concerned if I'm honest.

If it was so terrible playing for Everton, why didn't he put a transfer request in after two seasons when soft hole was still managing?

FWIW if it was upto me I would do as follows.

  1. Say he can go to any of the teams above us excluding Liverpool for £35m.
  2. Go to any of the teams below us for £25m.
  3. Play in the reserves for a season then choose who he wants to go to.
I'm not saying it was terrible playing for Everton, in fact that's the whole point of what I'm getting at - none of us know the reasons for his decision so just piling in calling him allsorts is a bit weird.

While I agree with you that Sigurdsson is a better player, I think it takes a lot of bottle to leave somewhere you have been looked after since you were a kid, to go to somewhere totally different, away from your home and all your friends and family to start anew. Give the guy a break!

And Sigurdsson knocked us back twice I believe, and also left Spurs when he wasn't getting in the side.

So saying we've replaced a mentally weak player for some sort of "winner" isn't totally correct

Very sad to see him go but sometimes you and a new boss just don't see eye to eye, even if both of you are trying to make it work, and guess Ross isn't prepared to wait Koeman out. Wish him luck as he is definitely taking the more difficult path than staying.

We've now lost the four young players that made Martinez's first season so fun to watch, hope that Koeman continues to integrate a new crop into the team as replacements.
