Koeman: "Barkley looking for a new challenge"

Surely not 'doing a Barmby'...?

This is currently my big fear. Klopp strikes me as the type who would go in for Barkley just to put us down. With the lack of interest is Ross at the moment the club might get desperate enough to accept an offer from that lot.

Can't really say he's mastered the challenge he had. Can only see the Rodwell path for him wherever he goes. Anything north of 30 million is good but can't exactly see a queue forming and can't think of a club that would be a good fit for him other than the r/s... which would make him the mother of all Barmbys

Agree. Sad. But if he can't handle the pressure of playing for his own club, he'll wither under the glare of Champions League football - either with us or somewhere else.

Very sad he never fulfilled his promise with us.

Will be a very good player with top class players around him. Need a proper replacement asap. Got a lot of grief on the putch from some when he was by a long way from being our worst player.

If was bothered i vault the lads on here telling me not to wet the bed as he was going nowhere. Cant be bothered. They would think of some new excuse anyway. This is a real shame but lets get our number 10 in asap

Would prefer to have heard from Barkley's side in the past few months - the silence has done him no favours - we'll probably never know.

.

You'll be able to read his 'story'(!) in one of the tabloids or the Daily Fail in about 6 months time. Let me guess....' I was frozen out at Everton, despite being a boyhood blue' etc. etc........

I find it telling that the OS has avoided putting anything at all about this up there besides the video. Club trying to do whatever they can to disassociate from the backlash they'll get for failing the supporters and letting one of our better players decide to leave once again. Has the official Twitter account or facebook said anything about those quotes from Koeman today?

On the OS instead it is Koeman talking about how boss we are for selling out Goodison.

Those same fans who groan as soon as the lad puts a foot wrong you mean? Makes sense for him to go and play his football elsewhere. He's never had the footballing brain to be at the level we hoped so we move on.

So we blaming these 4 players who, so far, have brought in £100+mill worth of fees and gone to clubs above us....

Yet feel the remaining squad that they were part of we're/are good enough?

By that, it means these players held us back and Ronko should now bring us success.

City bought Stones because he's English and can play out from the back, so far he's won zilch there and cost them a lot of goals and got benched. Delboy was not a starter for us under Koeman or Martinez mostly, he was sold because Barca wanted a cheap bench player so why not being back one of their own. Barkley ain't going to be a regular starter at any club above us, he might not even move to a bigger club. I exempted lukaku in my post because he will do very well I'm sure.

I feel the squad, bar the loss of lukaku and presuming siggy replaces Ross is much stronger now yes.

I think Ross knows his position is unattainable here. Ronald Koeman has done this to him subliminally without anybody realising. He has never got on with him since coming to Everton and made a scapegoat out of him last season. He has backed Ross into a corner and made him feel like he has to leave. Koeman is looking to have two or three players in that no. 10 role ahead of him and Ross knows his only way to go is out. Well played Ronald, you have played a blinder.

I thought Koeman offered him a contract. Silly me. And here I was thinking this was on Barkley.

Sounds like brinkmanship from Koeman/EFC. In another breath he mentions the injury to Barkley was a blow for selecting the starting XI for tomorrow. If he wasn't counting on Barkley at all, it wouldn't be a consideration. I think this is just a classic case of an agent trying to get the most money for a player, whether it's his current club or another interested one. If another club forks out the cash EFC want, he'll leave.

Suspect he'll go for a fairly average fee really close to the end of the window, then proceed to have typical purple patches for the rest of his career.
