So did I. But I was only 8yrs old! Indifferent to Ross going. Wanted him to stay and fight for his shirt and for the club (his boyhood club). But on hearing he wants to leave, thats it. He's going to be just another opposition player. Its the boys in blue that count, starting tomorrow night.
Bally was a true blue who loved the club ......Ross who??

Never cried over a player leaving but was gutted at the following:
Lineker (just won golden boot at the World Cup, was the world's best striker at the time)
Trevor Steven (because frankly he was my all time favourite player, only got 1.5m rubbed further salt in the wounds)
kanchelsis (when he signed thought it was too good to be true and it was)
Ferguson (no explanation needed)
barmby (joining them)
but worst of all..
Rooney (like lineker he was the star of a major tournament euro 2004 and arguably the most talented home grown player in our history left us whilst still in his teens).

If Ross goes to Spurs it’s going to be really confusing. When their fans moan about the £35m midfielder sitting on the bench all season we won’t know if it’s Sissoko or Ross!

In all this saga:

Koeman has spoken in public and at length for months on end.

Barkley has said not one word....not even today.

To have a clash you have to have two opponents.

Not in public, certainly, although Ross doesn't seem the type to say much in private, either. (One of my concerns about him as a player is the timidity with which he approaches big games. If he had the self-belief of much less talented players, like Henderson, then he'd be well on the way to being a great.)
"Clash" then, is, if not the wrong word, then not the only word. "Crush" you might say, perhaps, or "challenge" or "victimisation". I've not had too much of a problem with this, to be honest. I know Koeman has said more about him than any other player - and has probably been asked more about Ross than any other player - but I don't think I've seen anything that was unfair. Perhaps it was simply unfair to say anything, but I've not seen anything that I thought was too harsh. And he has been offered a new, reportedly highly lucrative contract, which suggests Koeman still wants him.
Regardless of the nature of the relationship, though, I still wouldn't be surprised if there's something fishy going on. Ross's complete silence - and his agent's - just adds to this for me. These days, it's very unusual for not even a peep to come out of the camp of such a high profile player.
