Koeman: "Barkley looking for a new challenge"

I'd imagine his parents would be supportive of whatever decision their son makes. They'll probably be more worried about stick they might get from fans.

Welcome back Wayne.

Thats probably fair re supporting there son. The stick he gets is second nature to being a footballer I am afraid. It wont go away at whatever club he goes to next.

You can't put yourself in his position, mate. Not defending him, but the pressure he is constantly under from us lot is enormous. Has been for years and in that sense, I can't really blame him for wanting a break.

I suspect there are many reasons that Ross is leaving. I also believe losing his place in the England team might have played a part, maybe he thinks playing for a bigger club will get him back in it.

That said, think he's better off sitting put. It's hard to tell now, but nobody wants Ross to succeed as much as us Evertonians.
This old getting back in the England team is bull. He was in the England team in Euro 16 and beyond and didn't get a game.........The England managers obviously didn't think he was good enough . Changing teams won't change their minds >

I dont know. How do people confuse Genk with Ghent?

Strange, but mistakes do happen I suppose.

Akin to saying one manager with zero trophies in England having a more successful trophy haul than another who has zero.

Remember when you claimed our defensive improvement last year couldnt be compared to the prior seasons due to the change in formation? That was fun.

Can't be serious this, blaming Lukaku. Deflection. Barkley is old and wise enough to make his own decisions.
His behaviour in and out of the football pitch clearly show somebody with a level of maturity which is questionable. He thinks he is the best thing to come out of the academy...that is too good for Everton...nothing wise about him. But he will be found out eventually and will regret his decision for the rest of his life...

"Further spending not effected by Ross sale or not"

"Ross turned down over 100k p/week" (as I - and others - have said all along)

United and Spurs front runners

I actually think United might be good for him. Pochettino is a big admirer apparently, but a local lad going down there - not really a successful journey in all honesty.

It seemed to work for Lescott and Stones and had the opposite effect on Phil Neville when he signed for us

Great potential but seriously flawed.

I think being local has exempted him from the same scrutiny as everything else from the Martinez era but exposed him in a different way.

He looked fantastic in that first season, but so did everything and every one else.He hasn't been that exciting player since.

If brown shoes had bought him from Wigan he would be filed with Deulofeu as "talented player, too many issues."

He's local though. We all wanted to be that boyhood blue who became a star, so we look at him differently.

Good luck to him but I honestly think he'll become a perenial middle of the league player like Kevin Nolan and Joey Barton were.

I wish him no ill but he has been poor for 2.5 seasons, we just had no alternatives. With Rooney, Klaassen and hopefully Sigurdsson in, even the most ardent Barkley supporter won't miss him this season.

Our last manager won more credible trophies than this manager we have now.

Pochettino has won nothing, ever, as a manager (sorry 3 or 4 manager of the month), Koeman has won leagues and cups. As players winning trophies it's like comparing Ross Barkley with Wayne Rooney and that's doing a service to Pochettino and a big disservice to Ron. They are in different leagues and Pochettino in no way compares........

This notion that Barkley is a diehard blue who's being forced to leave just because EFC haven't made him feel "valued" enough is laughable.

Koeman played Barkley in almost every match last season and the club offered Barkley a £100,000-a-week contract, which he rejected out of hand. Koeman was then pressed about Barkley's future by the media and admitted that he would have to be sold this summer if he didn't change his mind about the contract, mainly due to the fact that he can leave for nothing next summer.

Like Stones and Lukaku, Barkley thinks he's too big for Everton Football Club. Given that we've won just one trophy in the last thirty years he could be right. But Koeman/Elstone/Kenwright/Moshiri is not the bad guy here.
